Bureau of Indian Standards, Patna Branch Office organized a two-day Capsule Course for Quality Control Personnel of Steel and Allied Products Manufacturing Units on 29–30 December 2025 at the Conference Hall, Patna Branch Office. The programme witnessed participation of approximately 40 Quality Control Incharge (QCIs) and BIS officials.
Day 1 – 29 December 2025*
The programme commenced with registration, followed by the welcome address and briefing on programme objectives delivered by Prashant Tiwari, SPO, BIS Patna. Subsequently, Shri Himanshu Kumar, Deputy Director, BIS Patna presented an overview of BIS and its recent initiatives. The technical sessions were conducted by Mr. Sudhanshu Suman, Deputy Director, BIS Patna, who covered: Understanding the requirements of Indian Standards for steel products, Discussion on Product Manuals and Scheme of Inspection and Testing (SIT), and Testing methods of relevant Indian Standards. The day concluded with an Open House session, during which participants interacted with the resource persons and clarified their queries.
Day 2 – 30 December 2025
The second day began with a session on features of Manak Online and the BIS Care App. This was followed by sessions conducted by Shri Sudhanshu Suman, Deputy Director, BIS Patna on: Failure analysis of various steel products, and New guidelines for dealing with non-conformity and unsatisfactory performance, including inclusion, renewal, and grant of license. In the post-lunch session, participants were taken on a visit to the Patna Branch Laboratory conducted by Abid Hussain Joint Director BIS Patna Lab , where they were familiarized with testing facilities and procedures.
Valedictory Session
The programme concluded with a valedictory session addressed by Shri Chandrakesh Singh, Director & Head, Patna Branch Office, who emphasized the importance of such Capsule Course programmes for effective implementation of standards and strengthening quality assurance practices. Shri Vijay Kumar Gauraw, Joint Director, also participated in the certificate distribution programme.
The capsule course proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing the knowledge and practical understanding of Indian Standards among quality control personnel of steel and allied product manufacturing units.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) observed Vigilance Awareness Week with great enthusiasm and sincerity. The aim of the event was to promote integrity, transparency, and honesty among students, employees, and citizens. The theme of this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week — “Corruption-Free India – Developed India” — inspired everyone to work towards a corruption-free and responsible nation.
During the week, BIS organised various activities such as Slogan Writing, Essay Writing, and Integrity Pledge Ceremonies to encourage awareness about ethical conduct and accountability. The Integrity Pledge was taken by all participants, reaffirming their commitment to uphold honesty and fairness in every aspect of life.
Such initiatives by BIS play a vital role in spreading awareness about the importance of vigilance and ethical behaviour. When every individual chooses integrity over corruption, our country moves one step closer to becoming a truly Developed and Prosperous India.

“Integrity Pledge by BIS Patna during Vigilance Awareness Week”
During Vigilance Awareness Week, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Patna Branch Office organized the Integrity Pledge ceremony to promote honesty, transparency, and ethical values among all employees and participants. The event aimed to remind everyone of their responsibility towards building a corruption-free and progressive India.
All officers and staff members of BIS Patna took the Integrity Pledge with a strong commitment to perform their duties with sincerity and fairness. The pledge emphasized maintaining integrity in personal and professional life, avoiding corruption in any form, and encouraging others to do the same.
The event created a spirit of unity and moral awareness among the participants. By taking this pledge, BIS Patna reaffirmed its dedication to uphold the values of integrity, accountability, and good governance, contributing to the vision of a “Corruption-Free India – Developed India”

Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year during the week in which the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (31th October) falls. This year, the Commission has decided that Vigilance Awareness Week would be observed from 27th October to 2nd November, 2025 with the following theme: “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility".
In order to sensitize about the need for transparency and integrity, Integrity pledge has to be taken tomorrow at 11:00 AM followed by slogan writing and Essay competition.
All the employees are requested to kindly gather in conference Hall for the pledge tomorrow at 11:00 AM and also participate in the different competition.

A one-day training programme was organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Patna Branch Office for the officers of the State and District Consumer Redressal Commission, Patna.
The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Shri Chandrakesh Singh, Director, BIS, with the gracious presence of Shri Prem Ranjan Mishr, President, District Consumer Redressal Commission, Patna, and Shri Rajnish Kumar, Registrar and Member, District Consumer Redressal Commission, Patna.
During the inaugural session, Shri Chandrakesh Singh, Director, BIS, welcomed all participants and briefed them about the objectives of the training programme. He emphasized the vital role of consumer commissions in protecting consumer interests and the importance of standards in ensuring quality and safety of products and services.
Shri Himanshu Kumar, Deputy Director, BIS, presented an overview of the Bureau of Indian Standards and elaborated on various functions, organizational structure, and activities undertaken by different departments of BIS.
Following this, Shri Prashant Kr. Tiwari, SPO, BIS, made a detailed presentation on the promotional activities and consumer awareness initiatives carried out by BIS.
An interactive Question & Answer session was also conducted, during which several queries were raised by the participating officers. These queries were effectively addressed by Shri Chandrakesh Singh, Director, BIS.
The programme witnessed the participation of approximately 35 officers from the State and District Consumer Redressal Commission, Patna. The participants appreciated the efforts of BIS in organizing such an informative session and expressed keen interest in further collaboration to strengthen consumer protection mechanisms.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a group photograph.

भारतीय मानक ब्यूरो (बीआईएस), पटना शाखा कार्यालय द्वारा राज्य एवं जिला उपभोक्ता प्रतितोष आयोग, पटना के अधिकारियों के लिए एक एक दिवसीय प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया।
कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता बीआईएस के निदेशक श्री चन्द्रकेश सिंह ने की। इस अवसर पर जिला उपभोक्ता प्रतितोष आयोग, पटना के अध्यक्ष श्री प्रेम रंजन मिश्र एवं सदस्य श्री रजनीश कुमार विशेष रूप से उपस्थित रहे।
अपने स्वागत भाषण में बीआईएस निदेशक श्री चन्द्रकेश सिंह ने सभी प्रतिभागियों का स्वागत करते हुए प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम के उद्देश्यों पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने उपभोक्ता आयोगों की उपभोक्ता हित संरक्षण में भूमिका तथा उत्पादों और सेवाओं की गुणवत्ता एवं सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने में मानकों के महत्व पर बल दिया।
बीआईएस के उपनिदेशक श्री हिमांशु कुमार ने भारतीय मानक ब्यूरो का विस्तृत परिचय देते हुए संगठन की संरचना, कार्यप्रणाली तथा विभिन्न विभागों की गतिविधियों के बारे में जानकारी दी।
इसके उपरांत बीआईएस के स्टैण्डर्ड प्रमोशन ऑफिसर श्री प्रशांत कुमार तिवारी ने बीआईएस द्वारा संचालित स्टैण्डर्ड प्रमोशन , प्रचार-प्रसार एवं उपभोक्ता जागरूकता कार्यक्रमों की जानकारी दी।
कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत एक प्रश्नोत्तर सत्र भी आयोजित किया गया, जिसमें प्रतिभागी अधिकारियों द्वारा पूछे गए अनेक प्रश्नों का उत्तर बीआईएस निदेशक श्री चन्द्रकेश सिंह ने दिया।
इस प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम में राज्य एवं जिला उपभोक्ता प्रतितोष आयोग, पटना के लगभग 35 अधिकारी सम्मिलित हुए। प्रतिभागियों ने इस उपयोगी एवं जानकारीपूर्ण प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम की सराहना की तथा उपभोक्ता संरक्षण को सुदृढ़ करने हेतु बीआईएस के प्रयासों की प्रशंसा की।
कार्यक्रम का समापन धन्यवाद ज्ञापन एवं समूह छायाचित्र के साथ हुआ।
