Channel for singer/songwriter/lawsuit reform advocate Collette McLafferty, formerly of edibleRed. Get updates from the album "42", the book "Confessions of a Bad, Ugly Singer" and lawsuit reform bill "Collette's Law" here!
I recently sat down with musician/songwriter and host John Huggart to talk about my journey in the music industry.
This interview has everything.... old edibleRed stories, losing a bandmate to Bon Jovi, lawsuits, tabloids, jamming with Jeff Buckley and giving ageism the boot.
Big thanks to Indie, Over 50 for having me on! Please drop by and like, comment and/or share. And if you are an artist over 50, send over a song!
New music alert! This new release "Lunacy" is super meaningful to me. It sat on the hard drive for close to a decade! I wrote Lunacy with my former edibleRed bandmate Dave Eggar in the early 00s. We played it with the band a few times but never recorded it.
In 2016, I brought the song into the studio with my friend Muzz Skillings on bass- Muzz used to play bass in Living Colour so this was extra special to me as I grew up on this band.
I co-produced the track with Jonathan Vergara of Pancake studios, with Tamazara on keys.
Things were going great- but life got in the way and the song ended up on the hard drive. I always had plans to remix it- or have it as part of an EP or album... but life (repeatedly) got in the way.
A few weeks ago I just said "F*ck it" and decided to put it out as is. I brought it to Solar Heavy for mastering and viola!
This song has gone through quite the journey so it would mean the world to me if you could listen, share, comment and/or do an interpretive dance to it!
"Oceans" would not have happened if it weren't for the mermaid channel Tresor de la Mer.
Victoria is a professional mermaid! How cool is that?
She reached out to me to see if I would cover a couple songs for her channel. The first was "Space Oasis" by Bille Ray Martin. The second was "Oceans" by Pearl Jam!
I love both songs, but when I heard "Oceans" I knew I needed to also release it as a single.
1.20.23! I will be releasing my cover of Pearl Jam's "Oceans" as originally featured on the Tresor de la Mer mermaid channel here on Youtube! Much thanks to Victoria (featured here on the singles cover) for approaching me for this project. My New Year's resolution is to finally put out all the unfinished music I have been sitting on for a while. I know my channel is small, so it means the world to me when people reach out and comment!

Working on the art work for the next single! It almost looks like a book cover to me.
