So in the spirit of the day, I have a question to ask? Of the 4 Disventure Camp plushies that survived the challenge in episode 3, which one would you want as a Valentine’s Day gift?
I just rewatched episode 3 of Disventure Camp 5 Fans vs Favorites "Volcan-no You Don't" and I got some things to say.
The challenge was interesting, climbing a volcano collecting to throw them at plushies to knock them into the lava (I wonder if Benji got to keep the 4 remaining plushies). With that being said, lets get to the contestants, starting with the favorites:
Bruno and Spencer: Its nice to see Bruno enjoying himself on the favorites team (I know that hanging out with favorites would be a dream for most fans). That being said, he's still smart enough to realize his position on the team, and teaming up with Spencer does make sense with his reasoning (he's not wrong that the dude is a vote magnet). As for Spencer, while its nice that he's looking to gain allies, he's also not dumb enough to make the obvious moves right away (though I think it was smart to keep Fiore and Alec as potential Allies if need be).
Alec and Fiore: I'll give them both credit for trying to make allies right away, but with their reputations, it was a losing battle. I'm not sure if Alec is losing his touch like Tom said, but it's clear that he's not as influential as he used to be. I'm still not sure why Anastasia hates him, but I got educated for guess right now). As for Fiore, the fact that she got a maybe out of Spencer when he doesn't like her is a victory in my eyes, so they should take the win at this point.
Gabby: I can respect wanting to set an example, but their's no shame in needing help Gabby, especially if you are hungry and tired. I just hope that fatigue won't be a reassuring issue.
Tom and Natalia: Can I just say that Tom clocked Alec good during this episode, and man was that overdo. As for Natalia, you can tell she's still bothered by how she played last season, but at the same time acknowledges she'll probably do it again this season. I just hope she can find some middle ground, cause Tom is right, she has great character (ironic for someone who's a publicist).
Ally and Benji: they really didn't do much, but the fact that they weren't ostracized by the last vote was nice to see. Also, I totally get why Benji would want those plushies (they look adorable).
Anastasia, Lake, and Rosa Maria: It was smart for Rosa Maria to forge a alliance with Lake and Anastasia, though maybe she should of read the room before doing so (smart more, just saying). That being said, I'm glad Anastasia is working through personal issues instead of avoiding them, and she really seems to think of Rosa as a friend. As for Lake, while her bitterness is normal and justified, she was also right at the end of the day, it doesn't help anyone. I'm just glad she's willing to give Anastasia a chance. Also, who knew Lake was so good as throwing things, as she and Anastasia crushed that challenge.
Now then, lets talk about the fans:
Aiden and Manu:I can definitely say that compared to Bruno, Aiden did not seem to enjoy being swapped to the fans team, same thing with Manu (though that was for Bruno leaving). Also, it's clear that after getting voted off so early, and by a blindside no less, it's clear that Aiden won't be playing nice this season (at least he's keeping his morals). He's already convinced the team to vote Ernesto over Evie, as well as manipulate Manu to get the numbers he needed. As for Manu, while I can understand self preservation, the man is easily manipulated. Hopefully that means Manu will be in the game for a long time at the very least.
Dunia and Nura: Its clear that Dunia genuinely enjoys practicing her faith, as Ernesto's Tarot cards really made her teary eyed. She was also super excited about having Olivia's sharp rock, as it represents air. As for Nura, I'm glad she felt bad and wanted to make things right by helping Dunia with her Altar. She also seems somewhat interested in Dunia's faith, and I'm curious as to where it leads with them down the line.
Ara and Finn: These two were not very helpful in challenge (they only carried 3 rocks). they were also not thrilled by Aiden swapping with Bruno (Finn's got it bad for Tom, someone needs to tell him he's married). That being said, unlike Finn, Ara can read a situation and use it to her advantage (she's also not wrong about Aiden being easy to Manipulate based on past seasons).
Sam: The man can see opportunity and take full advantage of it. If the Aiden targeting Ernesto is anything to go by, I can see him using this tactic a lot in the season to manipulate the votes.
Ren and Oliwia: I know she feels like an outsider and I do feel bad of her, but she genuinely comes off as unstable, so I get the pushback somewhat (don't condone it, mind you, but I get where it comes from). As for Ren, while I respect them trying to save Ernesto, sadly in the end, it wasn't enough. I'm just glad their friendship with them was genuine. They were also so thoughtful in asking him for those tarot cards to give to Dunia, they're a real one for that.
Evie: Its amazing that she survived this elimination. While I won't judge her for her missing as throwing rocks accurately is harder than people think it is, the fact that she didn't try to pick up any rocks and had to be helicoptered to the top speaks volumes about her uselessness. Her obviousness makes it even more frustrating to watch. Unfortunately, Alec's lie about her having an advantage and Aiden thinking he needs to work with her made him protect her and target Ernesto instead. Even if his reasoning makes sense given what he thinks he knows, its still annoying to watch her avoid elimination all the same (also, Aiden should know better than to fully trust Alec, but I guess he did sell the lie pretty well to everyone).
Ernesto: What can I say here accept he got robbed. While I can agree with Aiden that he was a threat, he was still more valuable than Evie and shouldn't have been targeted yet. Unfortunately Alec's lie unintentionally gave Evie the shield of protection she needed to stick around, and Manu being easily manipulated was the final nail in the coffin. It's such a shame to, as he was beginning to earn that being looked to for help is more satisfying than being listened to. See ya Ernesto, you time here may have been short, but you were an interesting old man to say the least (I also like to state for the Record that he deserves to come back more than Aubrey from Rescue Island).
In conclusion, The challenge was great, new alliances were formed and while the elimination was annoying, it was still a good episode overall. let me know your thoughts in the comments.
