This is the beauty of salvation. It is personal. You can come from a terrible background and long line of wicked, perverse, Christ rejecters. But the Lord Jesus Christ will save you by His grace. You can come from any religion or cult, and the Lord will save you by His grace.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

a. Not of blood. You cannot get to heaven through your family tree or parents.

b. The will of the flesh. You cannot go to heaven by trying hard through good works.

c. The will of man. You are not a child of God because you plan and scheme on how you will make it there.

The new birth does not come by our planning or scheming. It is the gift of God.
