This is a conversation driven platform documenting the people behind electronic music, especially independent artists building something without a roadmap.

Most EDM content focuses on the highlights: big stages, packed rooms, viral moments.

This channel is about everything in between.

The Drop is a long-form podcast featuring real conversations with DJs, producers, promoters, and the people shaping the scene from the ground up and exploring sustainability, burnout, exposure vs. pay, and what it actually takes to keep going.

Alongside the podcast, weekly episodes break down what’s happening across the scene from local events and emerging artists to broader conversations impacting electronic music culture.

Based in Northern California, but focused on stories and realities shared across scenes everywhere.

NorCal EDM News

One year ago I uploaded my first video, on this channel, NorCal EDM News.

I wasn't sure exactly where this channel would end up, but one thing became clear along the way...

It's always been about community.

Thank you to everyone who's watched a video, joined a podcast, commented, or simply stopped to say hello at an event.

During this first year I experimented with different types of content. Now I feel like I've found the direction that fits me best: longer conversations highlighting the DJs, producers, promoters, and fans that make Northern California EDM special. (As well as some helpful content leading up to ABGT 700 at the Gorge Amphitheater) I just can't help myself from creating that content 😆

I'll start experimenting with Shorts soon, but my passion is creating content that goes a little deeper. 🤔

Thank you for making this first year so memorable. Here's to Year Two. 🙌

What an EPIC day.

Anjunadeep Open Air at The Ruins in American Canyon absolutely delivered on Saturday. The venue, the music, the weather, the staff and the crowd all came together for one of those events that reminds you why we love this scene.

For everyone who was there...

What was your favorite set or moment of the day?

I'd love to hear what stood out to you.

I asked DJs on Threads if they use YouTube to host their mixes, and the response was interesting.

Not bad for a first post 😌

I’m paying closer attention to how independent DJs are using YouTube—not just for uploads, but for discovery, archives, and community.

It is ALL about A COMMUNITY! It is always SO tempting to want to become a BIG channel. BIG SUBS, more comments, more 👍's. It's tempting as well to post on all the vertical social media platforms or make YT shorts, but I'd rather have 100 viewers watching 10 minutes of my videos than 1,000 people watching 2 minutes. Vertical content gets lost in 24 hours. I will continue to play the LONG FORM game, with meaningful discussion and content that helps out fans, local DJs, producers and promoters, and yes, content about the Road to ABGT 700 (cause, yeah. It's a right of passage heading to the Gorge). I love these news/stats about my channel 👇 and I do owe a great deal of gratitude to my YouTube mentor and coach, Diane with ‪@creatorbreakout‬ for getting me to this point. 🫶🏼

NO Scene Report for this week. But, I will be chatting with Rebecca from GW Parking about OVERNIGHT CAMPING at the Gorge, and will have that in the Road to ABGT 700's segment for next weeks episode of the Scene Report 🙌🏻 Will also be recapping an epic event with Ørjan Nilsen at Reunion Underground with the ‪@Wealreadyhere‬ crew, and talk about all the "influencers" standing behind a DJ's deck?? Why, I ask 🤷‍♂️

See you next Thursday , June 25th!

SO awesome to see an up and coming promoter collective, ‪@Wealreadyhere‬ host their first international headliner, (Ørjan Nilsen) to Sacramento, and pull off an incredible night. 🙌🏻 It starts with the hospitality that this crew provides, that is first and foremost making everyone feel wanted. It's part of the promotions "game" that is sorely overlooked. Also, providing local DJs and opportunity to get on the decks and be a part of this, is tremendous. The "numbers" will come. It starts with customer service and that's how a community is built. 🫶🏼

WHAT is going on at the Gorge Amphitheater now? First, as I chronicled, the Griztronics fiasco, then a return to business as usual for Brandi Carlile, now the "rage" is camping is completely "sold out" for this weekends Rufus Du Sol events? How does camping sell out at the Gorge, when history shows, that never happens? I am on it, however 🤔
