I visited the historic town of Old Wethersfield, Connecticut to see the 31st annual Scarecrows on Main. This yearly event brings together the creative minds of the community and showcases the shops on main street. This year there are 170 different handmade scarecrow displays including a viral scarecrow depicting the scene back in March with UConn Basketball coach Dan Hurley. Which is your favorite? It's sunflower season in Connecticut and all this month and next month you can walk through four acres of sunflowers at the Farm in Woodbury Connecticut.

Your entry ticket gets you one sunflower to take home with you, but you can also purchase more.

One of the things I didn't know about sunflowers was that there's so many different varieties. The Farm has 20 different kinds of sunflowers available.

Look out for bees, hummingbirds, and goldfinches as you walk through the field of thousands of sunflowers.

I recently visited the Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam, Connecticut. Gillette Castle was built in 1914 by actor, playwright and director William Hooker Gillette, and purchased by the State of Connecticut in 1943 and turned into a State park. This Connecticut icon is well worth the $6 price of admission.
