Community Insider:
Black Friday will be here next month so, I'm making and immediate shift to what I do best, hands off buyer’s guides to cover as much ground as possible before you buy. Walmart has already started extended return windows for holiday 2025, so the time is now for some early shoppers. This shift is permanent past holiday season. I will be your resource for buying guide info year round.
Let's answer a few popular questions I see in comments before we get started.
Why am I doing a buyer’s guide without owning every TV?
- A buyer’s guide is about educated decision-making, not b-roll and affiliate marketing. It filters a huge market of marketing agents into a few strong tv options for your room, your content, your usage and ultimately your budget, without the fake sellout crap we're used to.
Something to note as a normal person, who isn't rich.
- No single reviewer can keep dozens of new models in-house at once. Aggregating independent measurements, specs, and owner reports lets me cover more options quickly and flag risks before you spend hard earned money.
What makes me qualified to guide you?
- I bring over a decade of Professional Calibration and Tech Assessment experience interpreting specs into real-world results: how peak brightness windows, ABL, EOTF tracking, color volume, motion handling, Calman data, and gaming features actually look in your setup. In a short, i use my education to make data and information easy to understand regardless of experience.
How I keep credibility?
- Transparent info & sourcing: I cite independent lab tests, professional calibrator data, service manuals, and large owner threads. I link any relevant sources, note firmware versions, call out regional variations, so on. Above all else I'm honest about everything and call it like I see it.
How can I buy something you reccomend?
- Confidence meter: I label each recommendation with confidence levels (Highly recommended= multiple lab/owner confirmations; Its ok = solid but pending firmware or other factors like consumer feedback; Trash=Watchlist, do not buy, and known issues.
- Clear limitations: I explicitly flag what I haven’t tested in-house and what may change with firmware.
- Community verification: I invite owners to submit uniformity photos, panel codes, firmware versions, and game mode measurements via my Patreon free membership and Discord.
- Integrity guardrails: No pay-to-play. Affiliate links aren't a factor. We're crowd and self funded. So no corporations or small businesses have us in their back pocket.
What value this adds for Quantum TV viewers?
- Saves time: Quickly narrows hundreds of SKUs to a short list by use case; And highest odds of rolling a champion tv.
- Avoids buyer’s remorse: Flags panel lottery risks (tinting, banding, DSE), known HDMI 2.1 quirks, eARC bugs, and firmware regressions before you buy.
- Matches real-life setups: Recommends based on preference, usage, audio setup, seating distance, screen size sweet spots, ambient light, and wall vs stand mounting.
- Maximizes your money: Shows when last year’s flagship beats this year’s and how to time sales (price history, model-year transitions, holiday cycles).
- Your Day 1 checklist: a reccomendation of Test patterns and quick checks to validate your unit for defects and returns EARLY on. This includes near-black uniformity, pixel defects, color tinting, motion artifacts, HDR clipping, so on.
How reliable is this going to be post firmware?
- Ongoing updates: Fast revisions as firmware drops and owner data rolls out new info, plus later hands-on reviews (on select models) to confirm or adjust picks, for a later annual best of tv awards crowning.
Bottom line, this shift reflects the need for fast knowledge and being sick of driving to best buy just to ask best buy employees for advice. I have the expertise so I got you. I'm your personal assistant. 👍Remember to submit all user photos you want featured in the buyers guide video to the Patreon under the free membership option!
