Community as Fuel 🔥

I want to talk about you for a minute.

The Discord has become such a genuine part of how this channel grows ... the polls, the questions, the feedback. If you're not in there yet, come say hi (link in Bio). And if Discord's not your thing, that's totally fine too ... just being here on YouTube, watching and commenting, matters just as much.

Here's something real: a lot of what you see me making now exists because of feedback, not despite it. I've had to pivot more than once because you told me what you wanted, and honestly? I'm happy to. This is my channel, but it's not only mine — pleasing this audience, within reason, is part of the joy of doing this.

Case in point: Venti. I main Zhongli, but Venti has always had this hold on me ... playful, whimsical, easy to love, an original Archon who'd rather sip wine and tease you than act like it. And you all clearly feel the same way, because the response to recent Venti songs has been incredible. Meanwhile characters like Zhongli get dismissed sometimes ... "the old man drinking tea" ... when there's so much more there. Giving you more of what you love while still making room for the arcs I'm passionate about (Pale Crown, What the Snow Remembers, the Theatre arc) is a balance I'm actively working out. There are only 24 hours in a day, and I'm doing this close to full-time — songs, engagement, Discord, these posts. Energy is real and finite.

Which brings me to why I'm doing this — these long, rambly daily posts. Partly it's me trying to get out of my shell a bit. A lot of us are introverts, but online doesn't have to work that way. I've had subscribers just say "hi" once, and slowly, that turns into something real.

I think there's a natural progression: watch → like/comment → share → come back → maybe join the Discord → become an actual friend I get to make music and share ideas with. I'm not saying one level is "better" ... however you engage is genuinely fine with me. But my hope, honestly, is to get to know as many of you as I can. Not just as a creator with an audience, but as people sharing something we both care about.

Let's Rewind and go BACK in TIME! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Happy Monday! Let's talk about ... The Numbers Nobody Tells New Creators About

Alright, time to peel back the curtain a little more today.

So, a year ago... September of last year... I was sitting at about 12.5 watch hours for the entire month. That's it. That's where I was. And right now, I'm within striking distance of 4,000. That's not luck. I want to be really clear about that. That's five years of trying, failing to move the needle, bouncing around between projects, honestly, hi, ADHD, you know how that goes... and then finally, actually committing to consistency starting this past January.

And here's the honest truth of it, the thing I really want you to take away from this. Consistency is the single biggest lever. Not talent. Not luck. Just showing up. Over and over. If you're a newer creator reading this, genuinely, find your own sustainable pace. Maybe that's daily for you. Maybe it's five videos Monday through Friday and then you take weekends completely off. There's no universal formula here. There's only the rhythm that you personally can keep without burning yourself into the ground.

I'm so close to that 4,000 hour YPP threshold right now, and honestly, I wanted to cross it before the requirement jumps up to 8,000 next February. That's a real deadline in my head. And every single one of you who's watched something, shared something, or just stuck around during a slow month... you helped push this over the line. I mean that. Genuinely, thank you.

Now, this is just the surface level stuff though. The real numbers... the actual CTR breakdowns, what watch hours actually translate into, the earnings stuff once that starts flowing, the real behind the scenes analytics... that's going to live in Membership going forward. New music is already dropping there first, actually. And there's something pretty wild coming too, YouTube is letting creators A/B test entire videos now, not just titles and thumbnails. Which means for songs where I've made multiple versions, and I have a few of those, I'll actually be able to test them head to head and share what the data says about which one people prefer. That's going to live in Membership as well.
