There is a difference between knowing about magick and developing the ability to practice it well.

The Crone and High Priestess speak of knowledge that has matured through experience. There comes a point in an occult path when curiosity begins to actually demand something from us. We move beyond reading about forbidden things and begin discovering why certain knowledge acquired that reputation in the first place. Together they suggest an occult education formed through study and direct experience with Spirit.
A major casting off of the old self is indicated here, which could come about through a variety of ways (this is a collective spread), but some sort of metaphorical death is necessarily part of this process, especially with the double skull motif and “Death” on the Crone card. I’m hearing “memento mori”; that could mean something to a few of you.

Spellcasting and Sigil bring that knowledge into practice. The candle is set aflame. The magickal symbol is drawn. The tutelary spirit is called. What once existed as an idea begins entering the material world through the hands of the practitioner. The message concerns learning the Craft well enough that knowledge becomes something you can actually wield.
There could be a working you just completed (or are planning), particularly if it involves sigils, that is confirmed to be manifesting.

Around them appear the Sabbat, Astaroth, Azazel, and Beyrevra.

Their presence here changes the atmosphere of this spread.

The Sabbat carries the old image of witches leaving the boundaries of respectable society behind, gathering with spirits - even the Devil himself- beneath the cover of night and receiving knowledge the sanctioned world considered dangerous. Whether encountered through spirit flight, ritual, or dream, the Sabbat has always belonged to those willing to wander beyond the permitted road.
An upcoming Sabbat (at the time of this reading, it would be Mabon, or even Samhain) could play a very important role in your practice or this is a sign to perform your next spell/ritual on a Sabbat day.

Azazel catches my attention beside High Priestess and Sigil. His ancient association with teaching humanity forbidden arts feels almost perfectly placed. Knowledge passes from the divine or daemonic into human hands - and once it reaches those hands, something transforms. And it does.

Beyrevra overlooking everything from the upper right feels like a reminder that spiritual knowledge also requires learning how to move through forces that are difficult to control. Power becomes useful when you understand its nature.

Astaroth carries her own long history of revealing hidden matters and teaching the sciences. These spirits do not appear here as decorations around the reading. Their presence places knowledge itself at the center of the Work. A calling one cannot deny.

This spread feel like an invitation to take your occult practice seriously, much more than before. And to take full responsibility of the consequences of your practice (esp. with Azazel as the quintessential ‘scapegoat’).

Read the arcane books.
Learn the epithets.
Study the ancient symbols.
Practice your divination until you understand its language.
Refine your rituals until they carry the unmistakable imprint of your own Will.

There may already be spiritual intelligences around you willing to teach and initiate you, as well. You will know beyond a shadow of a doubt.

The old stories have always warned that certain spirits give humans knowledge they were never supposed to possess.

Perhaps that is precisely why the Witch/the Mage listens. 🕯️🗝️

⚷ Chiron stations retrograde in Taurus today, August 3rd, beginning a period of reflection around self worth, security, and the foundations upon which we build our lives.

Chiron is often called the Wounded Healer, though I have always felt that title only tells part of the story. Chiron also speaks to the wisdom that develops through our willingness to live consciously alongside our wounds. Healing does not erase our past. It changes the way we carry it.

As Chiron begins its retrograde, old patterns surrounding value, safety, and deservingness may become easier to recognize. Experiences that shaped the way we see ourselves can return, offering an opportunity to notice how much has changed and where there is still room to grow.

In Taurus, the emphasis falls on our values, our relationship with the body, our resources, and our sense of stability. This transit encourages us to examine whether the foundations beneath our lives are rooted in genuine self respect or in the pursuit of external validation.

Like Saturn, Chiron works over long stretches of time. Its lessons are gradual and often become clear only in hindsight. This retrograde offers an opportunity to strengthen the relationship we have with ourselves and to cultivate a steadier foundation for whatever comes next.

Life is shaped much like a work of art... or a magickal practice.

It is formed through countless small acts of devotion, through what we repeatedly give our attention to, and through the values we choose to embody when no one else is watching.

Creation has never belonged only to artists. Every day leaves its mark. We are always crafting something through the way we think, the way we live, and the way we meet the world around us.

There is a certain kind of magick in remembering that our character, our habits, and our intentions become the invisible hands that shape the lives we eventually inhabit.

This path was never something I mapped out from the beginning. It grew through following what continued to call me back… artistic impulse, the itch for magick, intense personal transformation, and the desire to understand Spirit more deeply.

In retrospect I can see that every meaningful step began the same way. I gave it my attention. Then my time. Then my devotion.

Those separate threads began weaving themselves into something that felt unmistakably my own.

This space is becoming a home for all of it. Not only for spirit-induced artwork, the application of Occult knowledge, or the insight Tarot provides. But a record of a life devoted to the pursuit of wisdom, beauty, magick, and meaning.

♄ Saturn has already entered its retrograde in Aries, and for me, this one carries extra weight because it coincides with my Saturn Return.

Saturn Returns are often described as periods of upheaval, but at their heart they are seasons of maturation. They reveal where our foundations are solid and where they have been built on habit, fear, or borrowed expectations.

With Saturn retrograde, the focus turns inward. The work becomes one of review rather than expansion. Commitments, ambitions, boundaries, and the choices that shape our lives all come under examination.

In Aries, the emphasis falls on identity, courage, initiative, independence, and the responsible expression of our will. This isn’t about suppressing our fire; it’s about learning how to direct it with intention.

If you’re moving through your Saturn Return, you may find yourself reassessing who you are becoming through your actions. Are your decisions aligned with your values? Are you leading your own life, or reacting to circumstance? What deserves your discipline, and what has reached the end of its usefulness?

Saturn has a way of stripping away what cannot endure so that something stronger can take its place. Its lessons rarely arrive with urgency. They unfold gradually, asking for consistency, accountability, and the patience to build a life that can withstand time.
This retrograde is an opportunity to refine the structures that support your future.

♇ Important to note as well, that a few days ago, the Sun stood opposite Pluto, an aspect that occurs only twice a year. These periods often bring unconscious patterns, long-held truths, and overlooked facets of ourselves into conscious awareness. With Pluto continuing its retrograde through Aquarius, the opposition offers an opportunity to consider which parts of our identity were genuinely our own… and which had been shaped by the conditioning or collective around us.

Interestingly, the more I’ve shared my work publicly, the easier it has become to share myself. Perhaps visibility is merely revealing what was already there.

I always assumed visibility would encourage me to keep certain parts of my life private. Instead, I find myself, at least gradually, speaking more freely about my relationship with the Occult, with Lilith, with the Left Hand Path, about experiences I once kept tucked away, and sharing more of my gifts, as well, pertaining to my Tarot readings and my art.

And the thing is, it doesn’t feel performative…It just feels honest. Like something I must do.

For a very long time I treated those parts of myself as something to protect. They were (and still are) sacred to me, and I wasn’t interested in bringing them into conversations/situations that couldn’t hold them with care. But I’ve reached a point where hiding them feels less authentic than simply allowing them to exist alongside everything else I create. It just doesn’t feel good in the gut otherwise.

I’ve also been wondering if the current Jupiter in Leo transit conjunct the Sun is reflecting some of this process. As someone with a Leo Moon, and Jupiter in Aquarius in the First House ♅, the symbolism feels interesting. Jupiter has a way of expanding whatever it touches, and perhaps this season is inviting me (and you) to express oneself with a little more openness and confidence than accustomed to. The Nodal Axis Shift occurring tomorrow on 7/26 (from Pisces/Virgo to Aquarius/Leo) is also extremely significant, especially if one has any major astrological correspondences to these signs.

Anyway, whether that’s astrology, timing, or only another chapter of growth, I’m grateful for it.

It’s a strange irony that stepping into the ‘public eye’, as someone who once eschewed all social media altogether, has also become a way of meeting myself more fully, at least in some new ways.

Hopefully this encourages or inspired someone.
