I have fallen victim to the “independence over all else” trap. It’s better than being caged by responsibilities you didn’t choose, but it doesn’t lead to purpose.
The autonomy to choose meaningful responsibilities is the freedom you need. It’s why the end of the Four Hour Work Week, the modern bible on freedom, ends with choosing a cause to dedicate yourself towards.
Especially as men, we don’t thrive in a vacuum. We need to feel needed.
Find those who need you, give it your all, and purpose will come.
If you are making decisions because you “need the money,” I invite you challenge that belief.
Unless you have a family to support, you can survive on much, much less than you believe.
This place is not in the ghetto. It’s a room in a house rated 4.82 stars on AirBnB. Free coffee every morning, mangos from the trees, a backyard garden, and 30 mins from the beach.
For $20.31.
Life is much more flexible than we are taught to believe. Unless you have $0 in savings, you have enough for months, if not YEARS of runway.
I will be using this time to build the business of my dreams. What is your dream?
I invite you to challenge the beliefs you have about what’s preventing you from doing the thing that matters.
Having spent a lot of time alone while dedicating myself to self-development, there are a few things I’ve learned about finding peace within the solitude. It’s still overwhelming sometimes, but like anything, I believe it’s a skill to be learned, and an immensely valuable one at that.
The truth is, sometimes we have to be ok being alone if those around us are not calling us forth to our highest potential. Until we find the tribe around us that does, we have to be content to be an army of one. #loneliness#solitude#peace#happiness#selfimprovement
Anger resides within all of us. I’m thinking and feeling what I want my relationship with it to be right now (see yesterday’s video).
I think the most important thing is to not contain it and pretend it’s not there. I’ve been doing this to an extent for a long time.
Drums and fitness were my outlet, but I didn’t fully acknowledge how much there truly was in there.
Now, as I’m becoming more aware of it, I’m seeking to a) feel it fully, b) put it to good use, and c) emotionally process it through therapeutic outlets rather than simply rely on it as fuel.
BUT, as this post says, there’s no reason we shouldn’t use it as fuel for good if it’s there already.
Just don’t develop a dependency where you feel like if you aren’t angry (which should be the ultimate goal), that you’d lost motivation to do hard things.
It’s a powerful fuel, but hey, love may be even more powerful…

They may not be as valid as you think.
