🙏 Celebrated Mass before 150,000 faithful at the Prairie of the Shrine
🏥 Visited Accueil Notre-Dame, meeting with the staff and sick community at the residential healthcare facility
🕯️ Led tens of thousands in a candlelight Rosary procession — "a pilgrim among pilgrims"

In a powerful speech at Accueil Notre-Dame, Pope Leo XIV spoke out boldly against euthanasia and assisted dying — directly addressing France's recent legalization of both:

"No human law should ever make you lose the certainty of your dignity. It is impossible to regard causing death as something normal. What is legal is not necessarily moral.

Here in Lourdes, the city of the sick and of hope, I appeal to the entire healthcare community to remember the profound meaning of your vocation, which is to care for a suffering person, not to eliminate that person. Medicine must never become the servant of programmed death.

Dear brothers and sisters who are sick, I want to tell you that you are not a burden. You are the beating heart of our humanity and a precious treasure for the Church." 💛

⛪ Celebrated an open-air Mass at Place de la Concorde — drawing an estimated 800,000 people!

When I was young, my family and I often visited my grandmother in Malacca (Melaka), Malaysia during our school holidays.

One of my most treasured memories is my Pa taking my brother and me to a stall just like this one to pick out our lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Looking up at the colorful lanterns in different shapes and trying to choose the perfect one, it was all pretty magical. Then we'd light it and walk around with it, mesmerized by its warm glow. Simple joys that stay with you. 🥰

I love St. Francis of Assisi's prayer of peace. Pope Leo XIV mentioned it in his homily in the Mass at Assisi, Italy today.

Tomorrow I'm sharing something that's been a long time coming.

In 2014, I walked 874 kilometres across northern Spain: the Camino de Santiago Frances, and then the Camino Fisterra all the way to the end of the known world before Columbus changed the map. When I got home, I meant to write a reflection on what it had done to me. Life happened. Twelve years passed.

Someone asked in the comments recently: "What made you move to Cambodia?"

Tomorrow, finally — that reflection. Not a travelogue of what happened on the road, but what the Camino actually changed in me, and why I think it led directly to my move to Cambodia.
