Before I packed up my life and left Montréal (again) for new horizons, I sat down with Alby for a heartfelt and unfiltered conversation about my life behind the decks.
We talked DJing, the DEEP & DOPE YouTube mixes that some of you have been streaming for over a decade (still blows my mind!), and my thoughts on how both the Montréal and international scenes have evolved over the years.

One of the highlights of summer 2025 was my bi-monthly DJ residency at W Montréal’s Vinyl Bar where the sets are strictly spun on vinyl which took me back to the mid-nineties all the way to the early 2000s when I had to carry bags and cases of records to get to my gigs.
The hotel has its own collection which I fondly call the “Wall of Sound” and patrons can listen to them on the listening stations. If there is one piece of music they want to share with the entire room, they hand it to me and I play it on the main sound system.
Vinyl as a music medium and vinyl-only DJ gigs have seen a resurgence in the last decade as people grow tired of the digital era that, for better or worse, is being taken over by AI. Analogue seems to be the cure for a digital media overdose and for veteran DJs like me who thought we would soon be relegated to oblivion, it has been a real turn of tables, if you will appreciate the pun.
My new DEEP & DOPE mix is a 5-hour House Music DJ set, recorded live at one of my bookings this past weekend. I hope it becomes an enjoyable soundtrack for your Monday and the rest of your week!
