Hi everyone! I’d love to clarify something. I recently received a comment on one of my videos about Americans taking over Europe and how no one wants us there. And I think it’s fair to point out some facts.
1. France has a population of 69 Million
2. There are approx 150,000 Americans living in France
3. That’s only .22% of the population
4. There are very stringent financial criteria that must be met before getting a visa.
5. One must have personal health insurance for at least one year for the visa requirement. Some must also pay a “tax” which goes toward healthcare among other things, based on their income if they’re employed. So health insurance is not free.
6. Americans bring their established income and use that money in France. Thereby boosting the local economy.
7. Laws are in place so we do not burden the French system.
I just wanted to be clear about where I stand on this as it’s a sensitive subject, which I fully understand. But in terms of facts and numbers (you know I love those!) At only .2% of the population we are hardly making a dent. I am not here to argue but to point out that we might be disliked in Europe but that doesn’t mean we can’t live there and pay our way and be loving members of the communities we find ourselves in.
