If your bucket still collapses after sticking it in a second bucket, build a "3-legged stool" (or eve 4 legs) like this, and stick it in the bucket. (But keep using the second bucket.) You'll have to experiment until you get the legs close enough to the bucket, yet still be able to fit it into the bucket. The height should come up to just a little short of the bottom of the lid, once you put the lid back on.
