Room At The Top Studio

This channel is about music production using synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, as well as acoustic and electric instruments. It covers many genres from Reggae, Soul, Hip Hop, Jungle, DnB, to Ambient, Trip Hop, Jazz and many more.
The current emphasis is on Akai MPC drum samplers, analogue synthesizers, string synthesizers, electric and acoustic guitars and the growth of the studio as we acquire and update the instruments in the studio.

My collection of vintage MPC sampling drum machines is complete. They look and sound beautiful. The 4000 is the latest addition to the family. Unlike the 3000 and the 60 I’m going to have to learn how to use the 4000 as this is a different workflow. It sounds amazing though

My three vintage MPCs. 2000XL, 3000, and the 60 mark 2.
All 3 are still “VERY” relevant today and if kept serviced and in good condition they are very reliable.

I had to get it. The Akai Roger Linn MPC 60 mark 2. When I first used this model way back in 1996 I had help from my producer friend to build my first beat which I released on my label with 3 different artists on the ridding.
Now 29 years later I finally own the MPC 6 mark 2.
Watch out for my first beat on this current machine and some comparisons with the 3000 and the 2000XL coming soon

I just got this quarter of a century old workstation keyboard from Korg called the Triton that I have wanted since it first came out but I couldn’t afford it. It’s going to be amusing putting this side by side with what I actually used 25 years ago as the Triton absolutely murders the Yamaha DJX (okay stop laughing. That’s why I never let anyone know what I was using back then) as the Triton was a state of the art professional workstation and the DJX was a consumer toy that punched way above its weight class in the right hands.
The Korg Triton is the second of the new “old school” instruments that I am bringing in to my set up for 2025 after the Boss Dr Sample SP303.
If I disappear it’s because I’m learning the gear

The looms and the half inch tape has arrived. Now to test out the Tascam TSR-8 tape machine. I will be recording the Akai MPC3000 individual outputs through the Allen & Heath MixWizard to the Tascam TSR-8 half inch tape machine then out as a stereo mix to the Soundcraft Signature 22MTK to start off with.
Watch out for the video that's coming of this experiment, and comment below if there's something that you want to know.

New screen is installed on my 2000XL. It's back next to the MPC3000 and both have blue screens.
Both are amazing sounding classic MPCs. Which is your favorite and why?
