Beautiful people: I need ur advice.

My friend passing away left a whole in my life, and my business model. He bought the devices for me and I repaid slowly over time. This is the core reason my channel has slowed down so much lately.

Which of the following would u be most keen on *if* you were to financially support me, and why?

I am disabled and provide for 3 people on disability benefits.

I am allowed to earn £404 pcm on top of my basic income.

My monetisation was revoked because I cant afford to buy a passport (£80-120) for ID (and I cant legally drive due to my disability(so i cant get a provisional license either).

My channel gets £5ish per 1000 views, and i average 4-8k views per month, but until i get passport, im earning nothing.

The money would allow me to grow as a creator and invest in more thinkpads and such to review.

Scraping metadata, watching paprika on CRT, via thinkpad x280 & lenovo legion booststation eGPU w/ rx 570 8gb + 1tb hdd full of games!

When its done the games with be played on CRT tv and then movies and music (thinking winamp naturally 🤔) on an old IBM ps/2 model monochrome CRT vga monitor. The question is: do I build it in my shed??

My friend and generous benefactor that made this whole channel possible by fronting the Costs of 99% of all my thinkpad purchases, sadly passed away on may 9th.
This has hit me very hard, and ive been utterly numb and incapable of thinking or doing much of anything since I found out.

How to move forward I am unsure.

Ive lost a dear friend and im 💔 😔


The show must go on so they say, and I have my p51 setup to review & a thinkpad x270.

Part of me feels like giving up, but I know he wudnt want me to.

He sold me my first thinkpad the x200 around 7 years ago. And funded almost every thinkpad I featured on the channel bar the x280 & x230. In his honour I will continue.

But my head is wrecked rn, so any supportive words from this wonderful niche corner if the Internet wud be very much welcomed rn.


Bruno the cat, has been giving me cuddles and my wonderful son and wife-to-be are there for me, and lots of good friends. So don't worry about me.

I just felt worth letting ppl know, as although anonymous through choice, my friend made this channel possible directly and supported me the whole way through

Next video: thinkpad x270! Expand for specs:

I5 7300u 2 cores 4 threads at 2.7-3.5ghz, 4gb ram (sadly only single slot) 128gb ssd.
Dual batteries hold roughly 3.5 hours


Aiming to upgrade to 256gb nvme & 8gb ddr4 2666mhz (which will hopefully run at 2400), OR, buy a single 16gb ddr4 2400 stick (if the stick ive got doesn't work) plus replace both batteries with brand new internal & 6 cell extended/2nd battery

Then til October it will be used for music OTG/busking & after windows 10 EOL i will move on to Linux/manjaro or something arch based to explore arch more


Apologies for my lack of presence here on YT, I'm working on an album and lots of music stuff, so I've been busy as heck, but ill be back soon, hopefully better than ever 🙏 ♥️ ❤️

What should I test coding/programming wise on the ‪@Lenovo‬#thinkpad x280?

What would people want to know? 🤔

How or what should I benchmark to be useful for people to know whether the machine is viable for said tasks?

Bonus points for premade benchmarks or code that I can run to demonstrate different workloads!
