One Body Two Brains

One Body Two Brains

Our brains are, from birth, constantly scanning our surroundings looking for relationships, patterns, danger, etc. This is within our subconscious brain, something we are not aware of operating behind the scenes. When we experience a situation which the brain perceives to be a danger/threat it adds the data it deems pertinent to the other things that have been deemed to be on the same risk level. When similar experiences materialize we can become "triggered" by the event. The brain will go into survival mode without our awareness and our subconscious will take control of the body. It does this by sending out orders for hormones like cortisol and other stress response hormones. This is via the central nervous system.

The central nervous system can be healed, a homeostasis of "rest & digest" can be achieved. The way I was able to do this was with Yoga. The Yoga I practice helps to process trauma, or emotional energy, and release it from the body so that we have a fresh start regarding how our brains process new experiences, even if those new experiences might remind us of our traumatic past. This is why Kundalini Yoga is the Yoga of Awareness. It brings the darkness (subconscious) into the light (conscious awareness).
