My hot take is that YouTube's ad change will actually benefit human content creators, as well as the viewers who watch them.
- Algorithmic content farms targeting children will be FORCED to begin adding lulls to their content, mitigating addictive brain rot
- Content creators won't have to edit out quiet, emotional moments, or moments of depth/sincerity.
- People can act like people without having to force a facade of infinite emotional energy. This means creators who are at risk of burnout (including @BijuuMike who seems afraid of this change) will actually benefit from being more true to themselves in their content.
(Hi Mike! I used to work on the events team for your Discord server back in 2017/2018. I don't go by the name I did back then, though. If you remember my deadname, I'd appreciate you not telling everyone haha)
- A healthy pace will become the norm in most videos, while Mr. Beast type videos will taper out due to the financial consequences of making them.
- Ads won't interrupt your viewing during tense moments (ideal for neurodivergent viewers, including myself!)
Despite the panic from some content creators, I genuinely believe YouTube has just taken the first step towards becoming a site for You to upload. And I wasn't paid to say that. If I was, I wouldn't be reliant on food stamps, lmao.
If I remember to and still have the emotional energy when I wake up tomorrow, I'll probably make a video talking about this.
I'm convinced at this point that my intense self-judgement of my own grammar has led YouTube employees to think I'm a LLM instead of a person, and shadow ban my channel in response.
It's gotten to a point where I sometimes practice skipping capitalization or reminding myself *not* to revise my sentences before sending them, just so people who don't care as much about language as I do won't mistake me for a bot -_-
I really don't like doing it. It feels gross to intentionally worsen my own writing. I'd rather people accept that literate people still exist than punish me for nonconformity.
"You can read and write better than you can speak?! Impossible! You're not human!"
No, I *am* human, I'm just autistic. Nice to meet you!

Should I animate a storytime of the time I was gaslit by Bob the Builder when I was a small child?

Is it a crime to be too literate?
