Maithri Aquatech, a company formed in 2016 under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, has developed the technology to harvest the moisture in the atmosphere to produce potable water on a highly scalable basis. Maithri today has become a leading Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) manufacturer and has already generated over 25 million litres of water saving over 50 million litres of water. The innovative solution called MEGHDOOT (meaning ‘Messenger of the Sky’s) is a decentralized, environmentally friendly solution which is capable of producing 100% microbe-free potable water on a sustainable basis. MEGHDOOT is scalable and caters from small to massive use with capacity of catering to requirements from 30 litres per day to over 1 million litres per day. The water generated meets WHO (World Health Organization) as well as Indian standards for potable water.
