🌿 3 Most Essential Homeopathic Supports for Birds in Summer

During hot weather, pet birds often suffer from dehydration, liver stress, digestive imbalance, and weakness due to excessive heat. Providing gentle homeopathic support can help maintain their internal balance and prevent common summer-related health problems. Here are three very effective remedies that bird keepers can safely use as seasonal support.

1️⃣ Chelidonium 30 – This is one of the best liver-support remedies for birds. It helps protect the liver from heat stress, improves digestion, and supports better appetite. Very useful when birds show dullness, reduced feeding, or mild weakness in summer.

2️⃣ Carbo Veg 30 – A powerful remedy for weakness caused by heat and poor oxygen circulation. It helps birds recover from exhaustion, breathing discomfort, and lethargy during extreme temperatures. Especially helpful when birds appear tired or inactive.

3️⃣ Glonine 30 – Excellent support during intense heat exposure. It helps birds tolerate high temperatures better and reduces the risk of heat stress and overheating symptoms.

Use these remedies in small diluted quantities in drinking water 2–5 times per week as preventive support during summer. Regular care, fresh water, shade, and a balanced diet together with these remedies can keep your birds active, healthy, and stress-free throughout the season. 🐦💧🌞

Topic: How Often Should Birds Bathe in Summer & What Hydrating Foods Should You Offer? ?

During the hot summer season, birds need extra care to stay cool, hydrated, and healthy. Bathing plays a very important role in regulating their body temperature. Ideally, pet birds should be allowed to bathe once daily or at least 4–5 times per week in summer. Always provide clean, fresh, room-temperature water for bathing—never cold water. Regular bathing helps birds reduce heat stress, keep their feathers clean, and maintain healthy skin.

Along with bathing, offering water-rich foods is essential to prevent dehydration. You can safely provide hydrating foods such as watermelon (seedless), cucumber, tomato (in small amounts), apple (without seeds), soaked seeds, leafy greens, and bottle gourd (lauki). These foods help maintain body fluids, improve digestion, and support immunity during extreme heat.

Remember, fresh drinking water should be available at all times, and it should be changed 2–3 times daily in summer. Proper hydration and regular bathing together keep birds active, stress-free, and protected from heat-related illnesses.

A little care in summer can make a big difference in your bird’s health and happiness. 🌿✨

SANTANU BIRDS CARE

Many times, even when the parent birds are healthy, baby birds still don’t survive or grow properly.
There are 7 hidden reasons behind this that most bird owners don’t know.

1️⃣ Problem: Eggs are fertile but chicks don’t hatch
👉 Causes:
Incorrect temperature
Female bird not sitting properly on eggs
Low humidity inside the nest
✔️ Solutions:
Do not disturb the nest
Keep the environment calm and quiet
Provide calcium support

2️⃣ Problem: Chicks die immediately after hatching
👉 Causes:
Body temperature drops (chilling)
Mother is not feeding properly
Nest box is wet or dirty
✔️ Solutions:
Keep the nest dry and clean
Improve the parents’ diet
Increase protein intake

3️⃣ Problem: Chick’s crop remains empty
👉 Signs:
Thin neck
Very quiet behavior
Low movement
👉 Causes:
Mother is not getting enough food
Father is not helping with feeding
✔️ Solutions:
Provide egg food
Give soaked seeds

4️⃣ Problem: Delay in feather growth
👉 Causes:
Calcium deficiency
Low protein diet
Vitamin deficiency
✔️ Solutions:
Provide cuttlebone
Give carrots
Offer fresh green vegetables

5️⃣ Problem: Large size difference between chicks in the same nest
👉 Causes:
Older chicks receive more food
Younger chicks fall behind in growth
✔️ Solutions:
Improve the parents’ nutrition
Monitor the nest regularly

6️⃣ Problem: Chick suddenly becomes weak
👉 Causes:
Dehydration
Infection
Sudden temperature change
✔️ Solutions:
Provide clean drinking water
Give ORS if necessary
Keep the nest dry

7️⃣ Problem: Bird grows into a weak adult
👉 Causes:
Poor nutrition during early stages
Early calcium deficiency
Stressful environment
✔️ Solutions:
Maintain a balanced diet from the beginning
Avoid overcrowding
Provide regular green vegetables

🎯 Ending Line
Baby bird care actually starts before the eggs are even laid.
If you manage these 7 factors properly, the survival rate of chicks can increase significantly.

When birds go through molting during summer, many new bird owners become worried because the bird starts losing feathers and looks a bit untidy. In reality, molting is a natural biological process where old feathers fall out and new feathers grow. It is similar to how trees shed old leaves to grow new ones. Understanding the signs of molting helps you avoid confusing it with illness.

First, you will notice feathers falling inside the cage. Small and medium feathers may appear on the cage floor. This is the most common and visible sign that the molting cycle has started.
Second, you may see new pin feathers growing on the bird’s body. These look like small needle-like feathers covered in a thin white sheath. These are developing feathers that will open later and become full feathers.

Another common symptom is increased preening or scratching. When new feathers grow, they can cause slight itching, so birds often use their beak to clean and adjust their feathers more frequently.

During molting, many birds also become a little quiet or less active. This happens because feather production requires a lot of energy and protein, so the bird’s body focuses more on feather growth than on playing or flying.
Sometimes the bird’s appetite may change slightly, but it should still eat normally. If a bird stops eating completely, sits puffed up, or keeps its eyes closed for long periods, that may indicate illness rather than normal molting.

Because feathers are mainly made of keratin protein, birds need extra nutrition during this period. Providing the right diet is very important for healthy feather growth.

Good foods during molting include:
Sprouted mung beans or sprouted seeds
Boiled egg white (two to three times a week)
Fresh leafy vegetables such as coriander leaves, moringa leaves, or spinach in small amounts
Vegetables like carrot and broccoli
Small amounts of fruits such as apple or papaya
Minerals are also important, so always keep cuttlefish bone or a mineral block in the cage to support calcium and mineral balance.
Some bird keepers also use supportive homeopathic remedies during molting.

Commonly used options include:
Calcarea Phosphorica 6X – helps support feather growth and overall body strength
Silicea 6X – supports feather and skin development
Five Phos – helps reduce weakness and stress during molting

Natural care is equally important. Birds should receive morning sunlight for about 20–30 minutes, which helps vitamin D metabolism and overall health. Light mist bathing two or three times a week can also help reduce itching and keep feathers clean.

It is important to keep the cage clean and avoid stress during this time because birds need a calm environment to grow new feathers properly.
Molting is not a disease. It is simply the bird’s way of renewing its feathers and preparing a stronger coat for the next season. With proper nutrition, gentle care, and a stress-free

environment, birds usually complete the molting cycle within a few weeks and return with brighter, healthier feathers.
