The Journey of Grief

"There comes a time when many of the people we love grow weary of our grief. Some, even impatient. They may not even realise it. It’s as if their capacity to support us had a use by date. Even though they do not speak it. We sense the shift. We see it, we feel it. "- Louise Rees

The Journey of Grief

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

The Journey of Grief

The epidemic of gun violence in our world today, will only bring about more tears, heartache and pain for mothers of the children lost to gun violence.
A mother grieving the death of her child is a journey that she usually travels alone. The despair and hopelessness that she carries in her soul last longer than anyone in her circle of family and friends can comprehend. Her grief is her grief because her child was her child.
It takes courage to "sit with her grief" and feel all the emotions that engulf her soul and come out on the other side, still in her right mind.

The Journey of Grief

Autumn’s Glow

In the whisper of the autumn breeze,
Leaves of gold and crimson dance with ease.
They flutter down from branches high,
A tapestry of colors beneath the sky.
In their descent, they softly say,
“Embrace the beauty of today.”
Though seasons change, His love remains,
In autumn’s glow, His grace sustains.

The Journey of Grief

“Tell your story.
Shout it. Write it.
Whisper it if you have to.
But tell it.
Some won't understand it.
Some will outright reject it.
But many will
thank you for it.
And then the most
magical thing will happen.
One by one, voices will start
whispering, 'Me, too.'
And your tribe will gather.
And you will never
feel alone again.”

5. **Comfort Items**: Soft blankets, cozy socks, or a weighted blanket to provide physical comfort.
6. **Memory Box**: A special box to keep mementos and cherished items that remind her of her loved one.
7. **Self-Care Items**: Bath salts, essential oils, or a spa gift set to encourage relaxation and self-care.

The Journey of Grief

Holding it together
while falling apart,
Tears on my pillow
praise in my heart.

This pain doesn't want to let me go,
but healing is sometimes found
when the tears flow.

Though my heart
is shattered and torn
I know You will comfort me
when I feel all hope is gone.

Holding it together
while falling apart
clutching the memories
like works of art.

I sing through the sorrow,
because I believe
that You, Father God,
are holding me together
while I grieve.
