Welcoming Scowl!! The Bay Area hardcore band has joined on with us here at Dead Oceans. Made all the more official by the release of their new track ‘Special’ and killer accompanying music video!
Scowl consistently defies categorization, moving far beyond what’s expected from hardcore. Quickly establishing themselves as one of the most dynamic and hard working acts in rock. The band has toured with the likes of Limp Bizkit, Destroy Boys, The Bronx, Militare Gum and many more. Their new song unveils a new layer of depth and texture in the band’s evolving artistry. Produced by Grammy-nominated Will Yip (who also worked on the band’s EP Psychic Dance Routine) and mixed by Rich Costey (Fiona Apple, Deftones, Vampire Weekend), If pop and hardcore were to procreate this would be their rebellious offspring.

Hailing from Philadelphia, PA’ Greg is a intuitive songwriter and storyteller whose work posses an innate ability to balance grit with gentleness, cruelties rewritten through preternatural sweetness that offers a glimpse into the beautiful lonely world at the core of this music. On the heels his self titled release ‘Greg Mendez’ which landed on best of the year lists from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Paste and more, Greg is back with the release of new single and “First Time” from is upcoming EP ‘First Time/ Alone’ EP out October 18th.
