Hi there, I'm Emma, and I'm a medical student studying at the University of Texas. Two years ago, I was struggling with depression, isolated in my hostel room due to the lockdown. My family was not with me then, and I was exhausted, frustrated, and far from my usual self.

As someone who has always been ambitious and goal-oriented, depression hit me particularly hard. With so much uncertainty swirling around me, I found myself withdrawing from others and turning inward.

However, through this difficult time, I discovered the power of social media as a coping mechanism. By using platforms like Tiktok, Instagram, and YouTube to express myself creatively, I was able to refocus my energy on something positive and keep moving forward.

Perhaps most importantly, this helped me learn some valuable lessons about balancing schoolwork with other aspects of life.

Here in this space online I have found solace, support, and ultimately healing. So if you are struggling right now too, know that you are not alone – there is always hope for finding happiness again no matter what life throws your way.

TikTok, the popular video app that has taken over American schools and offices, is under fire for its lack of privacy-invasive features.

In an interview with Axios, FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr stated that he does not believe "anything other than a ban" would be sufficient to protect Americans' data from the collection by Chinese companies and authorities- but just because our government cannot ban them doesn't mean we should let these corporations run rampant without consequences!

The government seems ready to fight back; it'll do everything in its power against Tik Tok itself and any other companies who try mimicking its style or approach.
