Shared deck Magic is exploding right now and formats like DanDan and ChefChef are leading the charge.
If the rising cost of formats like Modern or the ever growing complexity of Commander has pushed you away from casual 1v1 Magic, these shared library formats might be exactly what you are looking for.
DanDan also known as Forgetful Fish is a unique mono blue format where both players share an 80 card deck and a single graveyard. Every spell that manipulates the top of the deck becomes a battle of information and control. Knowing what your opponent will draw can matter just as much as the cards in your own hand.
ChefChef takes the concept in a completely different direction. This black green shared deck format starts both players at just five life and turns the game into a chaotic race to gain twenty life using Food tokens and sacrifice effects. With ten copies of Dockside Chef and powerful engines like Old Flitterfang, every resource feels like an ingredient in a deadly kitchen showdown.
Both formats are incredibly affordable, easy to carry, and require zero preparation from your opponent. Just bring the deck, shuffle up, and play.
Save this for your next LGS visit and start building your own MTG battlebox.

Which format are you building first?

One of my best friends since making MTG Content has returned! ‪@mtgspecs‬ has made a great video about how to figure out the amount of decks you should have!
(This will tie you over nicely whilst I'm prepping my TNMT video)
