Watley co-wrote and co-produced most of the 11 tracks, which blended R&B, soul, house, and new jack swing elements.

The album marked a departure from her earlier dance-pop sound, embracing a more mature and introspective R&B style.

Received positive reviews from critics who praised Watley's artistic growth and vocal performance.

Jody Watley's "I Want You" music video was featured in the Beverly Hills, 90210 episode "Everybody's Talkin' 'Bout It" (Season 2, Episode 21).

The song was a significant hit, reaching number #5 on the US Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart and number #17 on the Hot Dance/Club Play chart.

It was also one of several Jody Watley tracks to be used in the show, including "All the Way to Heaven" which appeared on the official Beverly Hills, 90210 soundtrack album.

The second single "I'm the One You Need" hit top 20 on both the US Hot 100 and US R&B, and top five on US Dance/Club Play Songs chart. -

Its third and final single "It All Begins With You" received moderate airplay and peaked at no. 48 on US Adult Contemporary.

The iconic charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by Band Aid was released, conceived by Bob Geldof to raise awareness and funds for famine relief in Ethiopia.

The song debuted at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, holding the top spot for five weeks and becoming that year’s Christmas No. 1. It sold one million copies in its first week—making it the fastest-selling single in UK chart history at the time.

Living in the U.K. then and signed to the Phonogram label as a solo artist, Jody Watley was a part of this historic recording alongside George Michael, Sting, Boy George, Phil Collins, Paul Young, Bananarama, and more—an unforgettable moment of music, unity, and global impact.
