#Babyface Featuring LL Cool J, Jody Watley, Howard Hewett & Jeffrey Daniel debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with the single, “This Is For The Lover In You.”
The Babyface version was a successful hit, reaching #6 on the US Hot 100 chart, #2 on the US R&B chart, and #12 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was considered to be atypical for Babyface when it was released.
This was Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds’ 10th Top 10 Hot 100 Billboard Chart entry (credited as Watley’s 7th) became his 9th Top 30 and 4th Top Ten when it peaked at No. 6 on November 9, 1996 and was certified Platinum.
The artists appeared together on the TV UK based music program “Top Of The Pops” filmed on location on the Santa Monica Pier in California.
“This Is For The Lover In You” was originally recorded by the group #Shalamar with the Watley, Hewett, Daniel lineup (79-83); originally appearing on their 1980 album, “Three For Love”
Their original now considered a Shalamar classic peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard R&B Chart.
