Sounds True was founded in 1985 by Tami Simon with a clear mission: to disseminate spiritual wisdom. Since starting out as a project with one woman and her tape recorder, we have grown into a multimedia publishing company with more than 110 employees, a library of more than 3,000 titles featuring some of the leading teachers and visionaries of our time, and an ever-expanding family of beloved customers from across the world. In more than three decades of growth, change, and evolution, Sounds True has maintained its focus on its overriding purpose, as summed up in our Mission Statement.

Beloved teacher Jack Kornfield shares stories on navigating our human experience with wisdom and care—for ourselves and our world—in his new book with Sounds True, “All in This Together: Stories and Teachings for Loving Each Other and Our World.” This special book launch event brings together longtime peers and good friends Kornfield and Anne Lamott for a conversation on collective anxiety, injustice, suffering, and more.

Happiness isn’t something to chase—it’s something to notice. It appears in ordinary moments, asking only for our awareness. When we learn to pause and recognize the contentment already here, joy is no longer a destination but a way of seeing.

There’s a quiet freedom that comes from loosening our grip on how life “should” have turned out. When we release our attachments to specific outcomes, the mind softens, and new possibilities emerge—often greater than we imagined. Sometimes the path opens not by pushing forward, but by letting go.

There is a secret longing placed in every heart—an inner pulse that draws us toward our unique offering in this world. When we listen to that quiet call, purpose stops being something to find, and becomes something we remember.

So many of us search for love outside ourselves, forgetting that the truest companionship comes from within. No one else can fully know our inner world—but we can learn to love ourselves deeply, tenderly, in all states of being. When we offer ourselves this love, we join the great current of human longing and discover that, in truth, we are never alone.

Compassion reminds us: we are not separate. Unlike sympathy, which can create distance, compassion lives in the space of shared humanity—with one another, not above or below. When we meet suffering with compassion, we do not fix—we accompany, shoulder to shoulder, heart to heart.

Blame may feel familiar, safer, but it distances us from our true creative power. Each moment is a living collaboration with life itself, a conscious partnership. To become conscious partners with the Divine is to ask, ""How am I participating in what unfolds?"" Empowerment begins when we step out of blame and into co-creation.

At the heart of every experience—joy, fear, doubt, or sorrow—there is an invitation to love. When we meet life with softness instead of resistance, we begin to see that even our most painful moments are secret teachers of awakening. Whatever arises in you today, let it be loved.

Grief is love that has lost its form but not its devotion. In a world that rushes to mend what hurts, may we remember that some pain is not meant to be fixed, but witnessed. Grief changes us, yes, but it also reveals the depth of our capacity to feel, to remember, to care.

We spend so much energy wrestling with our inner struggles, thinking freedom lies in winning the battle. But real peace arises when we let go completely—when we rest in the quiet awareness that has never been at war. Surrender is not weakness; it is the beginning of freedom.
