😴 Is CPAP really necessary? First, check your diagnosis!
If you have received a diagnosis from a sleep laboratory, be sure to pay attention to this point:
👉 Does it say “position-dependent sleep apnea” or “position-independent sleep apnea”?
🔹 Position-dependent means: The breathing interruptions mainly occur when you sleep on your back.
🔹 Non-position-dependent means that breathing interruptions occur in any sleeping position.
💡 Good news: Studies show that around 50–60% of those affected have positional sleep apnea.
This means that many could significantly reduce their breathing interruptions—or even avoid them altogether—if they learn to sleep consistently on their side.
👉 Special anti-snoring T-shirts or belts can help with this. Not only do they prevent you from sleeping on your back, but after 4–6 months, they also train you to sleep on your side permanently.
👉 Anti-snoring splints are another option. They are often recommended by dentists or ENT doctors, but are also available directly—for example, in our shop.
❌ What if you have position-independent sleep apnea?
Unfortunately, sleeping on your side is not enough in this case. CPAP is usually the safest and most effective therapy – but there are many ways to make it more comfortable and pleasant.
✨ Stay tuned – in the next post, you'll learn how to optimize your CPAP therapy.
SomniShop—and your snoring will end today.

😴 Making CPAP therapy more comfortable – here's how!
Around half of those affected by obstructive sleep apnea have no choice but to undergo CPAP therapy – it is the safest and most effective treatment. Unfortunately, however, many patients have to contend with side effects:
👉 Unpleasant airflow
👉 Pressure points on the face
👉 Dry mouth or irritated eyes
💡 The good news: You can make your therapy more comfortable with a few simple measures.
1️⃣ Sleep on your side instead of on your back
Studies show that people who sleep on their side with CPAP often need significantly less therapy pressure – especially in cases of positional sleep apnea (POSA).
👉 The tissue pressure on the upper airways decreases, and the device requires less air pressure.
Positioning aids such as an anti-snoring shirt or an electronic position belt train you to sleep on your side in the long term – and reduce the pressure requirement.
2️⃣ Avoid mouth leaks
A shield splint (e.g., oxyhero CPAP pro) prevents ventilation air from escaping through the mouth. Studies show that this increases the effectiveness of CPAP therapy by up to 93%.
3️⃣ Increase mask comfort
Less mouth leakage means that many patients can switch from an uncomfortable full-face mask to a lighter nose or nose pillow mask.
✨ Conclusion: CPAP remains a challenge. But with the right tools and tips, the therapy becomes more tolerable—and you can finally sleep soundly again.
SomniShop – and the snoring ends today.

💤 Separate sleeping arrangements & relationships – what do the studies really say?
More and more couples are sleeping separately – and not because the love has gone! ❤️
According to a recent study by Pronova BKK, 28% of couples in Germany already sleep in separate bedrooms so they can finally get a good night's sleep.
👉 The number one reason: snoring.
When one person sleeps poorly, the whole relationship suffers – irritability, fatigue, less intimacy.
But research also shows that couples who improve their sleep quality experience greater intimacy and satisfaction again – regardless of whether they sleep together or separately.
💡 Conclusion: Sleeping separately is not a sign of relationship problems, but can be a love-saving decision.
More importantly, find a solution for snoring – then sleeping together can be enjoyable again. 😴
