California dentist Dr. Harleen Grewal, dubbed the “MAGA Dentist,” is under attack for a two-year-old joke she made at a 2021 Republican Liberty Gala. In the resurfaced clip, she joked about wearing a “Make Your Smile Great Again” hat and cutting back on laughing gas for patients who complained — a line delivered in a roast-style speech, not in real treatment.
Since the clip reappeared, Grewal has been hit with harassment and threats. Her Yelp page was flooded with negative attention and locked with an “unusual activity” warning. Democrat-aligned media outlets and social media accounts are amplifying the old video to smear her — even as the same party cried foul over Jimmy Kimmel’s “joke” controversy.
This resurfacing comes just as Grewal and four others resigned from the Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative, citing alleged financial mismanagement. She calls the renewed outrage retaliatory and says her words have been twisted to destroy her life and business.

Just hours before a deadly sniper attack on a Texas ICE facility, California Gov. Gavin Newsom went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and unleashed a blistering rant against federal immigration agents.
On national TV, Newsom branded ICE as President Trump’s “private domestic army”, accused the administration of “authoritarian tendencies,” and claimed that minority communities were already facing “authoritarian actions by an authoritarian government.”
The next morning, violence erupted. A gunman opened fire at a Dallas ICE field office, killing one detainee and wounding two others before turning the gun on himself. Investigators recovered ammunition scrawled with “anti-ICE” messages, linking the attack to a wave of hostility toward immigration enforcement.
The timing of Newsom’s remarks has drawn sharp criticism, with leaders blasting the rhetoric for fanning flames of anti-ICE hatred just before lives were lost.

By leaving “willful” and “reckless” undefined, SB 771 creates strong incentives for platforms to over-censor, chilling the speech of everyday Californians and punishing constitutionally protected viewpoints. The vague language hands enormous power to political groups to pressure takedowns under the guise of “hate speech,” setting a dangerous precedent.
The irony is striking: while Democrats protest Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension as an attack on expression, their own bill would give government the power to pressure tech companies into silencing lawful speech on a massive scale.
