I remember I had a boss almost fire me for starting an email with " you need to" instead of " I recommend". She was not playing games with me, and not willing to lose the reputation of her services because I didn't understand how to properly address someone who needed to do something. She gave me a pass because I was 19 years old. No one is going to give big adults a pass, so learn now. I thank her for teaching me that and not firing me. When she explained to me how it could come off as rude in email, I immediately corrected the behavior.
If you meet someone, text someone or email someone, and you do not even open with a greeting, it shows a major red flag of social awkwardness, lack of etiquette, over comfortability and non intentional rudeness. It blows my mind how grown able bodied adults don't know how to say "hello" before starting a conversation with someone, "please and thank you" after receiving a service, or starting an email with " Good afternoon, Good morning, Greetings, Hello". How exactly do you plan on being around quality people if you don't have down the basics? The sad part is nobody is going to take the time to teach you basic etiquette, they will simply reject you and no longer align with you.
