September is officially here, which means the Sydney Fringe Festival is taking over the city! As New South Wales' largest independent arts festival, this year's lineup is massive, featuring over 350 events and 2,000+ incredible independent artists across more than 60 venues.
Whether you love theatre, comedy, music, or completely unexpected immersive experiences, there is truly something weird, wonderful, and creative to discover around every corner this month.
Here are a few major programme highlights to keep on your radar:
📍Fool’s Paradise (The Entertainment Quarter): A spectacular, multi-week hub filled with jaw-dropping circus acts, cabaret, and physical comedy. Don't miss The Return of the Godz, which completely re-envisions Greek mythology through epic acrobatics and theatrical stunts.
📍Yalgali First Nations Programme: A brilliant and growing celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytelling. Key highlights include Toni Janke’s poetic new musical work Inheritance and Elaine Crombie’s brilliant blend of comedy and song, Grief, Love and Lead Balloons.
📍FEAST (Hurstville Entertainment Centre): Where food and comedy collide! Comedian Jennifer Wong hosts this acclaimed dinner-and-storytelling series, this year featuring a home-style Malaysian dinner served up by MasterChef favourite Sarah Tiong.
📍The Queer Hub (Qtopia Sydney): A month of pride-led magic and powerful LGBTQIA+ storytelling, including the Sydney debut of the award-winning, LA-touring show Queen Out (Verb).

Entire villages have been heavily impacted, and rescue operations are currently underway in incredibly difficult conditions. This hits especially close to home for our channel, as our very first community member is from Nepal.

In today’s public release, we dive into the incredible story of the Dunera Boys—over 2,500 Jewish refugees and anti-fascists mistakenly locked up as "enemy aliens" and shipped to Australia in 1940. Despite facing a horrific 57-day voyage and terrible treatment, many stayed to become some of Australia's most celebrated artists, scientists, and minds.
