Roshko Brothers - new classical violin/cello duo that blend sound of strings with electronics. After discovering jazz music Jan and Adam were fascinated by electro, ambient and technology. This is demonstrated by their latest project #RoshkoHitTheRoad, in which brothers improvise and arrange hits using smartphones.
Their latest music is a combinantion of these styles and at the same time a preview of their debut album.

Even in a heavy world, there is light to heal. 🌌✨Our new single Healing is out now — everywhere.

🔸 "Healing” continues the journey we began with “June” — a meditation on sound, silence, and the inner light that guides us toward renewal.
The piece was born from a simple melodic phrase on the organ, gently supported by a deep, spacious bass. This first motif became the seed of the composition, carrying within it a quiet sense of comfort and grounding. From there, the piano took center stage. Finding the right atmosphere for its spacious part was the longest step in the process — three different delays were layered to create a soothing, meditative texture that feels both infinite and intimate.
Warm string tones then entered, bringing breath and stillness, weaving everything together into a single, flowing soundscape. Their presence gave balance, as if stitching the separate voices into one calm and luminous fabric.
“Healing” was created with silence in mind — an exploration of inner light and the subtle strength of recovery. It is music for slowing down, for listening to what moves quietly within, and for discovering peace in sound.

🔸 June
The sounds of June: birdsong, forest silence, air saturated with warmth and light, intertwined with the modulation of synthesizers and strings. Listen to the beginning of summer.

The first inspiration for creating the piece “June” came from birds singing — heard on an exceptionally hot April morning in the forests near Wiązowna. Spring arrived suddenly and intensely that year. Nature awakened with force, and we set out into the field with a microphone to capture the moment: the song of birds in a forest that almost smelled of light.

These field recordings became the starting point. The sounds of nature are an essential part of the composition — not as background, but as an instrument in their own right. The next step was harmony: we searched for exceptionally warm synthesizer tones that would convey the atmosphere of rebirth and calm. Then we added spacious piano chords, followed by subtle parts for cello and viola.

“June” is a musical meditation on renewal. An ambient tale of blooming, light, and the movement that spring brings with it. The piece was born out of a need for contemplation of nature, attentiveness to sound, and warmth. It is not just a track — it is an invitation to sit quietly and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of June.

Roshko Brothers – Interregnum
The story of Interregnum begins with an honor: being invited by the House of European History in Brussels, adjacent to the European Parliament, to perform at the opening of their international exhibition Bellum et Artes — an exploration of the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) and the role of the arts in times of conflict.
The curators introduced us to Ferdinand III’s early baroque opera Drama Musicum, composed in 1647. Drawn to its austere beauty and historic resonance, we arranged a fragment of it for our opening performance. The audience’s warm response encouraged us to keep the piece alive — reshaping, extending, and exploring it further throughout our tours in Poland and the Benelux.
"During rehearsals, we stretched the edges of form, testing our shared groove and stepping into the discomfort of improvisation." – Roshko Brothers
Eventually, we brought this material into the studio. The result is Interregnum — a piece shadowed by the trauma of war, but also echoing the uncertainty of our own times. Rooted in early baroque structure, it evolves into a dark ambient narrative.
The accompanying video was filmed among the ruins of the Evangelical Church in Mieruniszki and the 1850s manor of Theodor Tolsdorff in northeastern Poland – landscapes steeped in memory and silence. "These decaying spaces gave our music breath – and weight."

Roshko Brothers with their melancholic second single "Star Serenade"
With their second single, Roshko Brothers delve into slightly calmer sounds that allow for introspection while revealing the melancholic side of the band.

In "Star Serenade," Roshko Brothers beautifully capture the celestial wonders of the Suwałki night sky and the appearance of Starlink satellites, blending classical and electronic influences into an enchanting musical experience. This serenade transports listeners to tranquil and inspiring nights by Lake Wigry and the moment when Jan Roszkowski observed the Starlink system during a nocturnal boat ride on the lake.

"The first verse describes a nocturnal boat trip to Cimochowizna, while the chorus is about looking up at the darkened cove and the first sighting of the Starlinks," recalls Jan Roszkowski.

🙌🏻 Wow, that was a lot of fun! We even had to pull our track from Spotify because the quality wasn't satisfactory... the distributor wouldn't accept our 48 kHz 24-bit WAV 🙃. We spent weeks listening to the master to finally make up our minds!

Finally, our first single is available on all streaming platforms! "Händel Regrooved" is our electro-groovy arrangement of one of the most famous themes by the Baroque composer Georg Friedrich Händel. Click and listen 🎧:

📝 As far back as 2008, we coordinated via transatlantic phone calls between New York and Brussels to perform the well-known "classic," Johan Halvorsen's Passacaglia, together. We played it dozens of times, from restaurants to Baroque festivals. Back then, as students, we only saw each other in the summer. When the sun was shining, listening to independent music was just as important. Whether during sailing trips on Lake Wigry or at electronic music festivals, it was always present. During one of our rehearsals in those days, an idea was born 💡 to add electronic beats to Händel, work on new layers of tracks that would take this music to a different dimension. We were simply tired of practicing this piece and decided to derail Händel's classical beauty!
And so, our first single from our original album is now a reality. Close your eyes and transport yourselves to memories of vacations and warm evenings in the sunset's glow 🌅 Let us know where you're listening to us from this sunny weekend!

Wojciech Sobolewski, thanks for the amazing photo! VERYNICEWORKS, as always, does a beautiful job designing our graphics!
