ග්‍රාම නිලධාරී සේවයේ III වන ශ්‍රේණිය සඳහා සුදුසුකම් ලැබූ නිලධාරීන් 1,540 දෙනෙකු සඳහා පත්වීම් ලිපි ප්‍රදානය කිරීමේ අවස්ථාවට අද (08) පෙරවරුවේ අරලියගහ මන්දිරයේදී එක්වීමි.

අපේ ආර්ථික සහ සමාජයීය ගමන්මඟ වන්නේ ග්‍රාමීය ජනතාව නගරවලට කැඳවීම නොව, ගම තුළ ආර්ථික අවස්ථා නිර්මාණය කිරීම සහ පහසුකම් ලබා දීම බවත්, එහිදී ගම සහ නගරය අතර ඉතාමත් ශක්තිමත් දියුණු මාර්ග පද්ධතියක්, හොඳ සන්නිවේදන පද්ධතියක් සහ කාර්ක්ෂමව ඔවුන්ගේ සේවා අවශ්‍යතා සම්පූර්ණ කර ගැනීමට අවස්ථාව සලසා දිය යුතු බවත් මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නෙමි.

එම කාර්යයේදී ජනතාව සහ රාජ්‍යය අතර සහසම්බන්ධය ගොඩනගන පාලම වන්නේ ග්‍රාම නිලධාරීන් බවද පෙන්වා දෙමින්, ප්‍රශස්ත මහජන සේවාවක් වෙනුවෙන් නව පත්වීම්ලාභී සියලු දෙනා වෙත සුබපැතුම් එක් කළෙමි.

கிராம அலுவலர் III ஆம் தரத்திற்குத் தெரிவுசெய்யப்பட்ட 1,540 அதிகாரிகளுக்கான நியமனக் கடிதங்கள் வழங்கும் நிகழ்வில் இன்று (08) முற்பகல் அலரி மாளிகையில் கலந்துகொண்டேன்.

எங்களது பொருளாதார மற்றும் சமூகப் பயணமானது கிராமிய மக்களை நகர்ப்புறங்களுக்கு அழைத்து வருவதல்ல, மாறாக கிராமத்திற்குள்ளேயே பொருளாதார வாய்ப்புகளை உருவாக்குவதும் வசதிகளை வழங்குவதும் ஆகும். இதன்போது கிராமத்திற்கும் நகருக்கும் இடையில் மிக வலுவான, மேம்படுத்தப்பட்ட வீதிக் கட்டமைப்பையும், சிறந்த தொலைத்தொடர்பு கட்டமைப்பையும் உருவாக்குவதுடன், அவர்களது சேவைக் தேவைகளை வினைத்திறனாகப் பூர்த்தி செய்துகொள்ளும் வாய்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்பதையும் சுட்டிக்காட்டினேன்.

அந்தப் பணியில் மக்களுக்கும் அரசாங்கத்திற்கும் இடையிலான தொடர்பை ஏற்படுத்தும் பாலமாக கிராம அலுவலர்கள் விளங்குகிறார்கள் என்பதைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டியதுடன், பொதுமக்களுக்கு சிறந்த சேவையை வழங்குவதற்காக புதிய நியமனம் பெற்ற அனைவரும் எனது நல்வாழ்த்துகளைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டேன்.

I attended the ceremony at Temple Trees this morning (08) to present appointment letters to 1,540 officers who have qualified for Grade III of the Grama Niladhari Service.

I emphasised that our economic and social development path should not be about bringing rural communities to cities, but about creating economic opportunities and providing facilities within villages. In this regard, it is essential to establish strong and well-developed road networks between villages and cities, efficient communication systems and opportunities for people to meet their service needs efficiently.

I also pointed out that Grama Niladhari serve as the bridge connecting the people and the State. I extended my best wishes to all the newly appointed officers as they embark on their responsibilities towards providing an efficient public service.

මුදල් විශුද්ධිකරණය සහ ත්‍රස්තවාදයට අරමුදල් සැපයීම වැළැක්වීමේ (AML/CFT) ජාත්‍යන්තර අනුකූලතා පරීක්ෂා කිරීමට අදාළව ශ්‍රී ලංකාව මුහුණ දෙන, තෙවන අන්‍යෝන්‍ය ඇගයීම පිළිබඳ විශේෂ සාකච්ඡාවකට අද (06) පෙරවරුවේ ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේදී එක්වීමි.

2026 ඔක්තෝබර් මස 26වෙනි දින සිට නොවැම්බර් මස 06වෙනි දින දක්වා සිදු කෙරෙන මෙම තෙවන අන්‍යෝන්‍ය ඇගයීම සඳහා වූ පූර්ව සූදානම පිළිබඳව මෙහිදී පුළුල් ලෙස විමසා බැලුණු අතර, මීට අදාළව ඉදිරිපත් කළ නිර්දේශ සහ ක්‍රියාකාරී සැලැස්ම පසුගිය පෙබරවාරි මාසයේ සිට අමාත්‍යාංශය සහ ආයතනික මට්ටමින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමේ ප්‍රගතියද සමාලෝචනය කෙරිණි.

මෙම කටයුතු සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම වෙනුවෙන් උපරිම දායකත්වය ලබා දෙන ලෙස සියලුම රාජ්‍ය සහ පෞද්ගලික අංශයේ ආයතනවලට ආරාධනා කළ අතර, මෙම ක්‍රියාවලිය වෙනුවෙන් පසුගිය සමයේ කැපවී කටයුතු කළ සියලු දෙනා වෙතද කෘතවේදීත්වය පළ කළෙමි.

பணம் தூய்தாக்கல் மற்றும் பயங்கரவாதத்திற்கான நிதியளிப்பை தடுக்கும் (AML/CFT) சர்வதேச தரநிலைகள் தொடர்பாக இலங்கை எதிர்கொள்ளும் மூன்றாவது பரஸ்பர மதிப்பீடு குறித்த விசேட கலந்துரையாடலில் இன்று (06) முற்பகல் ஜனாதிபதி அலுவலகத்தில் கலந்துகொண்டேன்.

2026 ஒக்டோபர் 26 ஆம் திகதி முதல் நவம்பர் 06 ஆம் திகதி வரை நடைபெறவுள்ள இந்த மூன்றாவது பரஸ்பர மதிப்பீட்டிற்கான பூர்வாங்க ஏற்பாடுகள் குறித்து இங்கு விரிவாக ஆராயப்பட்டதுடன், இது தொடர்பாக சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட பரிந்துரைகள் மற்றும் செயல் திட்டத்தை கடந்த பெப்ரவரி மாதம் முதல் அமைச்சு மற்றும் நிறுவன மட்டங்களில் நடைமுறைப்படுத்துவதன் முன்னேற்றம் குறித்தும் இதன் போது மீளாய்வு செய்யப்பட்டது.

இப்பணிகளை வெற்றிகரமாக நிறைவேற்றுவதற்கு முழுமையான பங்களிப்பை வழங்குமாறு அனைத்து அரச மற்றும் தனியார் துறை நிறுவனங்களுக்கும் அழைப்பு விடுத்ததுடன், இச்செயன்முறைக்காக கடந்த காலங்களில் அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் செயற்பட்ட அனைவருக்கும் எனது நன்றிகளைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டேன்.

I participated in a special discussion at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (06) on Sri Lanka’s third mutual evaluation concerning international compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) standards.

The discussion focused extensively on preparations for the third mutual evaluation, which is scheduled to be conducted from 26 October to 06 November 2026. Progress in implementing, at ministerial and institutional levels, the recommendations and action plan submitted in this regard since February was also reviewed.

All public and private sector institutions were invited to make their fullest contribution towards the successful completion of this process. I also expressed my appreciation to all those who have worked with dedication towards this process over the past period.

High Court Judges Navaratne Marasinghe and H. M. R. M. Thilakaratne were sworn in as new Judges of the Court of Appeal at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (06).

ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාවේ (CPC) ජෙට් A-1 නළ මාර්ග පද්ධතියද, ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාවට (CPC) සහ ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් ගබඩා පර්යන්ත සමාගමට (CPSTL) අයත් නව තෙල් ටැංකි ගබඩා පද්ධති දෙකකද ඉදිකිරීම් ආරම්භ කිරීමේ අවස්ථාවලට අද (02) පෙරවරුවේ එක්වීමි.

බලශක්ති වෙළෙඳපොළ තුළ ශක්තිමත් රාජ්‍ය පංගුවක් පවත්වා ගනිමින් ජනතාවට කාර්යක්ෂම සේවාවක් ලබා දීම රජයේ අපේක්ෂාව බවත්, එය ඉටුකිරීමේදී පසුගිය දෙවසර තුළ සාර්ථක ප්‍රගතියක් අත්කරගෙන තිබෙන බවත්, මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නෙමි.

එම කාර්යයේදී කැප වී කටයුතු කරන ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාවේ සහ ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් ගබඩා පර්යන්ත සමාගමේ සියලු කාර්ය මණ්ඩල වෙත කෘතඥතාව පිරිනමමි.

இலங்கை பெற்றோலியக் கூட்டுத்தாபனத்தின் (CPC) ஜெட் A-1 குழாய் கட்டமைப்பும், இலங்கை பெற்றோலியக் கூட்டுத்தாபனம் (CPC) மற்றும் இலங்கை பெற்றோலிய சேமிப்பு முனைய நிறுவனத்திற்கு (CPSTL) உரிய இரண்டு புதிய எண்ணெய் தாங்கி சேமிப்புத் தொகுதிகளின் நிர்மாணப் பணிகளை ஆரம்பிக்கும் நிகழ்வில் இன்று (02) முற்பகல் கலந்துகொண்டேன்.

வலுசக்தி சந்தையில் வலுவான அரச பங்கைப் பேணி, மக்களுக்கு செயற்திறனாக சேவையாற்றுவதே அரசாங்கத்தின் எதிர்பார்ப்பாகும் என்றும், அதனை நிறைவேற்றுவதில் கடந்த இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளில் வெற்றிகரமான முன்னேற்றம் அடையப்பட்டுள்ளது என்றும் இங்கு சுட்டிக்காட்டினேன்.

இந்தப் பணியில் அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் செயற்படும் இலங்கை பெற்றோலியக் கூட்டுத்தாபனம் மற்றும் இலங்கை பெற்றோலிய சேமிப்பு முனைய நிறுவனத்தின் அனைத்து ஊழியர்களுக்கும் எனது நன்றிகளைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.

I participated this morning (02) in the commencement of construction of the Jet A-1 pipeline system of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and two new oil storage tank systems belonging to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL).

I emphasised that the Government’s objective is to maintain a strong State presence in the energy market while providing an efficient service to the people. I also noted that significant progress has been achieved towards this objective over the past two years.

I extend my appreciation to all staff members of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited for their dedicated efforts in this endeavour.

දරුවන් යනු ජාතියේ වටිනාම සම්පතයි. එබැවින් ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවිත සුරක්ෂිත කිරීම රජයක ප්‍රමුඛ වගකීමයි. දරුවන්ගේ සිහින, අපේක්ෂා සහ නිර්මාණශීලීත්වය තුළ රටේ හෙට දවස තීරණය කෙරේ. එබැවින් දරුවන් වෙනුවෙන් අප ගොඩනඟන රට යනු ඔවුන්ට හෙට දිනයේ භාරදීමට පමණක් සූදානම් කරන රටක් නොව, අද දවසේම ඔවුන්ගේ සිහිනවලට ඉඩ සලසන, ඔවුන්ගේ හඬට සවන් දෙන සහ ඔවුන්ගේ හැකියාවන්ට පූර්ණ අවකාශය සලසා දෙනු ලබන පරිසරයක් සහිත රටකි.

අධ්‍යාපනය සඳහා සමාන ප්‍රවේශය, මාර්ගෝපදේශනය, සමාජ ආරක්ෂණය, නිසි පෝෂණය සහ සෞඛ්‍ය සේවා මෙන්ම, දරුවන්ට එරෙහි සියලු ආකාරයේ අපයෝජන, හිංසන සහ වෙනස්කම්වලින් ඔවුන් ආරක්ෂා කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය පියවර ශක්තිමත් කිරීම අපගේ වගකීමක් ලෙස අපි සලකමු. කිසිදු දරුවෙකුගේ ජාතිය, ආගම, ආර්ථික තත්ත්වය හෝ භූගෝලීය පසුබිම අධ්‍යාපනයට බාධාවක් නොවිය යුතුය. සෑම දරුවෙකුටම තම හැකියාවන් පුබුදුවා ගනිමින්, තම සිහින හඹා යමින්, තමන් කැමති අනාගතයක් නිර්මාණය කර ගැනීමට සමාන අවස්ථා හිමි විය යුතුය. ඒ වෙනුවෙන් මෙරට අධ්‍යාපනය නව පරිවර්තනයකට ලක් කරමින් දෙමාපියන්ට බරක් නොවන සහ දරුවන්ට දුකක් නොවන මෙන්ම නව ලෝකයට ගැළපෙන කුසලතා පදනම් කරගත් අධ්‍යාපන ක්‍රමයක් සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ අපි මේ වන විටත් ආරම්භ කර ඇත්තෙමු.

අප ගොඩනඟන නව ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කිසිදු දරුවෙකු අත් නොහැර, සෑම දරුවෙකුටම සුරක්ෂිත පරිසරයක තම හැකියාවන් උපරිමයෙන් වර්ධනය කරගැනීමට අවස්ථා සලසා දීම අපගේ අරමුණයි. අධ්‍යාපන ශිෂ්‍යත්ව පුළුල් කිරීමේ සිට, ළමා සංවර්ධන මධ්‍යස්ථානවල හැදී වැඩෙන සහ රැකවරණය අවශ්‍ය දරුවන්ගේ අනාගතය සුරක්ෂිත කිරීම දක්වා ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන සියලු වැඩසටහන්වල මූලික අරමුණ වන්නේ රටේ සෑම දරුවෙකුටම අභිමානවත් සහ සුරක්ෂිත හෙට දවසක් උරුම කර දීම බව මෙහිලා සිහිපත් කළ යුතුය.

තමන් අත්විඳි ජීවිතයට වඩා හොඳ ජීවිතයක් තම දරුවන්ට උරුම කර දීම සෑම දෙමාපියෙකුගේම අපේක්ෂාවයි. අස්ථාවර ආර්ථිකයක සෙවණැලිවලින් තොර, සුරක්ෂිත සහ සුන්දර ළමා වියක් දරුවන්ට උරුම කර දීම සඳහා අප මේ වන විට රටේ ආර්ථිකය නිවැරදි හා ස්ථාවර දිශානතියකට මෙහෙයවමින් සිටිමු. එසේම විෂ මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය රකුසාගෙන් දරු පරපුර මුදා ගැනීමට සියලු දෙනා එක් කර ගනිමින් “රටම එකට” ජාතික මෙහෙයුම ක්‍රියාවට නංවා ඇත්තෙමු.

දරුවන් වෙනුවෙන් සුරක්ෂිත රටක් ගොඩනැගීමේ අත්හළ නොහැකි වගකීම ඉටු කරමින් සිටින මෙවන් මොහොතක, “මනසින් සවිමත් – දරුවන් පොහොසත්” යන තේමාව පෙරදැරි කර ගනිමින්, කාන්තා සහ ළමා කටයුතු අමාත්‍යාංශය විසින් ජාතික ළමා දින සතියක් ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කරමින්, දරු පරපුරේ අයිතිවාසිකම්, ආරක්ෂාව, අධ්‍යාපනය සහ අනාගත අපේක්ෂා ශක්තිමත් කිරීම අරමුණු කරගත් අර්ථවත් වැඩසටහන් රැසක් සමඟ මෙවර ලෝක ළමා දින සැමරුම සංවිධානය කිරීම බෙහෙවින් අගය කරමි.

රටේ සියලු දූ පුතුන්ට සතුට, සෙනෙහස සහ බලාපොරොත්තුවෙන් පිරි සුබ ලෝක ළමා දිනයක් වේවා'යි හෘදයාංගම සුබපැතුම් එක් කරමි.

சிறுவர்கள் என்பவர்கள் நாட்டின் பெறுமதியான பொக்கிஷம். அவர்களின் உடல் மற்றும் உள நல்வாழ்வைப் பாதுகாத்து, முறையான வளர்ச்சிக்குத் தேவையான சூழலை உருவாக்குவது ஒரு அரசாங்கத்தின் முதன்மையான பொறுப்பாகும். சிறுவர்களின் கற்பனைத் திறன், எதிர்பார்ப்புகள் மற்றும் படைப்பாற்றல் ஆகியவை நாளைய நாட்டின் போக்கை தீர்மானிக்கின்றது. சிறுவர்களுக்காக நாம் கட்டியெழுப்பும் நாடானது, நாளைய தினம் அவர்களிடம் கையளிக்க இருக்கும் நாடு மட்டுமன்றி, இன்று அவர்களின் கனவுகளுக்கு இடமளிக்கும், அவர்களின் குரலை செவிமடுக்கும் மற்றும் அவர்களின் திறமைகளுக்கு வாய்ப்புகளை வழங்கும் நாடாகும்.

சிறுவர்களின் நலன்களை உறுதி செய்வதற்காக, அவர்களுக்குக் கல்விக்கான சம வாய்ப்பு, வழிகாட்டல், சமூகப் பாதுகாப்பு, விளையாட்டு, ஓய்வு மற்றும் பொழுதுபோக்கு சார்ந்த விடயங்களில் வாய்ப்புகளை வழங்குதல், முறையான போஷாக்கு, சுகாதார சேவை வசதிகள், சிறுவர்களுக்கு எதிரான அனைத்து வகையான வன்முறைகள் மற்றும் பாரபட்சங்களில் இருந்து அவர்களைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்கும் சிறுவர்களுக்குரிய உரிமைகளைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்கும் தேவையான நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறோம்.

சாதி, மதம், பொருளாதார நிலை, புவியியல் பின்னணி அல்லது வேறு எந்தவொரு காரணமும் எந்தவொரு சிறுவரின் கல்விக்கும் அல்லது சீரான வளர்ச்சிக்கும் தடையாக இருக்கக்கூடாது. ஒவ்வொரு பிள்ளையும் தனது திறமைகளை வெளிக்கொணர்ந்து, தனது கனவுகளை அடைந்து, தான் விரும்பும் எதிர்காலத்தை உருவாக்கிக் கொள்வதற்கு சமமான மற்றும் நியாயமான வாய்ப்புகள் கிடைக்க வேண்டும். அதற்காக, இந்நாட்டின் கல்வியை ஒரு புதிய மாற்றத்திற்கு உட்படுத்தி, பெற்றோருக்குச் சுமையாகவும் பிள்ளைகளுக்குத் துன்பமாகவும் இல்லாத, நவீன உலகிற்குப் பொருத்தமான திறன் அடிப்படையிலான கல்வி முறைக்கான மறுசீரமைப்புச் செயற்பாட்டை நாம் ஏற்கனவே தொடங்கியுள்ளோம்.

நாம் கட்டியெழுப்பும் புதிய இலங்கையில் எந்தவொரு பிள்ளையையும் கைவிடாமல், அனைத்துப் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் பாதுகாப்பான சூழலில் வளர்ச்சிக்கான வாய்ப்புகளை உறுதி செய்வதே எமது நோக்கமாகும். கல்விக்கான புலமைப்பரிசில்களை விரிவுபடுத்துவது முதல், சிறுவர் அபிவிருத்தி நிலையங்களில் வளரும் மற்றும் பராமரிப்புத் தேவைப்படும் பிள்ளைகளின் எதிர்காலத்தைப் பாதுகாப்பது வரை செயற்படுத்தப்படும் அனைத்துத் திட்டங்களினதும் அடிப்படை நோக்கம், நாட்டின் அனைத்துப் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் பெருமைமிக்க மற்றும் பாதுகாப்பான நாளைய தினத்தை உருவாக்குவதாகும் என்பதை இங்கு நினைவுபடுத்த விரும்புகிறோம்.

தான் முகங்கொடுத்த வாழ்க்கையை விடச் சிறந்ததொரு வாழ்க்கை நிலையைத் தமது பிள்ளைகளுக்கு உரித்தாக்கிக் கொடுப்பது அனைத்துப் பெற்றோரினதும் எதிர்பார்ப்பாகும். நிலையற்ற பொருளாதாரத்தின் பாதிப்புக்களற்ற, பாதுகாப்பான மற்றும் அழகான சிறுவர் பருவத்தை அவர்களுக்குப் பெற்றுக்கொடுப்பதற்காக, நாம் தற்போது நாட்டின் பொருளாதாரத்தைச் சரியான மற்றும் நிலையான திசையை நோக்கி கொண்டு செல்கிறோம். அதேபோல், போதைப்பொருட்களில் இருந்து இளம் சந்ததியைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்காக அனைவரையும் ஒன்றிணைத்து “முழு நாடுமே ஒன்றாக” தேசிய செயற்பாட்டை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தியுள்ளோம்.

சிறுவர்களுக்காக பாதுகாப்பான மற்றும் சிறந்த நாட்டைக் கட்டியெழுப்பும் உயரிய நோக்கத்துடன் செயற்பட்டுவரும் இத்தகைய வேளையில், “ திடமான உள்ளங்கள் – வளமான சிறுவர்கள்” என்ற கருப்பொருளின் கீழ் தேசிய சிறுவர்கள் தின வாரத்தைப் பிரகடனப்படுத்தி, மகளிர் மற்றும் சிறுவர் அலுவல்கள் அமைச்சினால் சிறுவர்களின் உரிமைகள், நல்வாழ்வு, பாதுகாப்பு, கல்வி மற்றும் சுதந்திரத்தை வலுப்படுத்துவதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்ட பல அர்த்தமுள்ள நிகழ்ச்சிகளுடன் இம்முறை உலக சிறுவர் தினக் கொண்டாட்டங்கள் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளமையை நான் பாராட்டுகிறேன். நாட்டின் அனைத்து சிறுவர்களுக்கும் எனது மகிழ்ச்சிகரமான சிறுவர் தின வாழ்த்துகளைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.

Children are the most valuable asset of a nation. Ensuring their physical and mental well-being and creating an environment conducive to their proper development is a primary responsibility of any government. Children’s imagination, aspirations and creativity will determine the shape and colour of the country tomorrow. The country we build for children must not merely be a country prepared to be handed over to them in the future; it must be a country that gives space to their dreams today, listens to their voices and provides opportunities for them to realise their potential.

For the best interests of children, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure equal access to education, guidance, social protection, opportunities for sport, leisure and recreation, proper nutrition and access to healthcare, while protecting children from all forms of violence and discrimination and safeguarding their rights.

Race, religion, economic status, geographical background or any other circumstance should not be a barrier to any child’s education or proper development. Every child should have equal and fair opportunities to realise their potential, pursue their dreams and create the future they wish for themselves. To this end, we have already begun the process of reforming the education system in Sri Lanka, transforming it towards a skills-based system suited to the new world, one that does not place a burden on parents or cause distress to children.

Our aim is to ensure that no child is left behind in the new Sri Lanka we are building, and to provide every child with opportunities for development in a safe environment. It should be emphasised that the fundamental objective of all the programmes being implemented, from expanding educational scholarships to securing the future of children growing up in child development centres and those in need of care, is to create a dignified and secure tomorrow for every child in the country.

It is the aspiration of every parent to give their children a better life than the one they themselves experienced. We are currently steering the country’s economy towards a correct and stable direction in order to provide children with a safe and happy childhood, free from the shadows of an unstable economy. At the same time, we have launched the national operation “A Nation United” (Ratama Ekata), bringing everyone together to free the younger generation from the menace of illicit drugs.

At a time when we are working towards the goal of building a safe and better country for children, I greatly appreciate the initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs in organising this year’s World Children’s Day celebrations under the theme “Strong Minds – Enriched Children”, declaring a National Children’s Day Week and conducting a range of meaningful programmes aimed at strengthening children’s rights, well-being, protection, education and freedom.

I extend my heartfelt wishes to all the sons and daughters of our country for a Happy World Children’s Day.
