Lighting in your environment or space when finding a position of concealment is one of the most important things to be remember when concealing your position. You should take into consideration things like the time of day, which way the sun sets or sun rises, high and low light areas, or even where major shadow and light areas are. As seen in this photo, it’s possible to fix yourself into a spot where not only do you match the color, texture and camouflage of the environment, but you’re also able to match organic shadow spots to blend into the environment even more.

Thankful for studs like Leo. This dude epitomizes the word “teammate”. He’s a guy you want having your back when you’re going through it - in the field training or in life.

Quick snapshot of Leo - He was running support for our team during the Pocomoke Recon Challenge last year. When it was mid-30s at night, we’ve been on the move through water, swamps and thorn thickets you could barely see through in daylight; we would reach our next objective and there was Leo. Ready to support us with whatever we needed and to give us some verbal encouragement, something to the tune of “ayye bubba, y’all are kickin’ ass, 40 miles, man that ain’t that bad, you’re almost there, keep goin’.” Every time we wanted to get to the next objective just to see what Leo had to say, ha!

Talk about a guy that’s “For The Boys”. Thank you for everything you’ve done in your career and the legendary status you’ve brought to Section. Good luck in retirement, it’s well deserved!
