I failed strength training 2x. Even when I was in a relationship with a personal trainer! What made it finally stick?
#1 - I was just a few months shy of 40 and felt like my grace period of avoidance was (finally) over.
#2 - Visible muscle loss. Batwings were blooming on my warms and my inner thighs were getting flabby.
#3 - I ignored every piece of conventional gym advice I was given.
I realized that if I was going to do it, I need to make it my own.
I encourage you to do the same.

As I was approaching 40, I could see the signs of perimenopause. Especially muscle loss. I knew I needed to build strength but I hated the gym. So I started building strength on my yoga mat.
I began with bands. Then progressed to hand weights. And I learned to build strength in a way that felt right for me.
