I feel so awkward rewatching it because I’ve gained so much new experience and knowledge over the past year. But it’s not just an anniversary for the animation—it’s the day I met all of you!
Quite unexpectedly, and without expecting anything, I found a new family. A cozy, understanding one, unlike anything I’ve seen before. This year has forced me to change the way I view my work. I used to undervalue the countless sleepless hours, the tears, and the emotions I poured into every piece. I always thought «I have to push myself to the absolute limit, only then will I be worth something». The constant stress from everything happening around me only worsened my DPDR and my perception of the world, my body, and myself.
Drawing has always been a part of me, but now it’s become even more of a way to feel emotions, find closure, and share warmth, sadness, and peace. However, in that pursuit of emotion, I felt myself burning out. I was terrified that the thing I love would become something I hate since it was the only way I could breathe and feel like my old self.
I’m so glad that even as I write this, those feelings are still alive within me. I will always be grateful to you for welcoming me so warmly. I'm grateful that I’m growing, even if it hurts. I am so glad we are all here, even if we just met today. And I’m so happy that I can keep doing what I love, even if I’m not as active as I used to be. After all, it’s only the first year, right? I hope we’ll make even more wonderful memories together in the future.
