Sometimes I feel like everybody in my life has gotten together and quietly appointed me:

Supreme Chancellor of Decisions.

What time should I schedule this?

What’s for dinner?

Are you hosting the cookout?

What should I wear?

What should I do about this person?

Where is the thing?

HOW SHOULD I KNOW ALL THE THINGS?!

Surely somebody else around here has a functioning brain.

Eventually mine just clocks out.

Someone asks what I want for dinner and suddenly I'm offended.

You want me to choose a food?!

There are hundreds!

At a time like this?!

So lately I'm practicing the ancient and powerful incantation:

"I don't care. You pick."

Because apparently I don't have to personally make every decision simply because somebody asks me to.

Sometimes the Department of All Decisions is closed.

I'm in the shower.

I smell fantastic.

I have recently discovered something unsettling.

Apparently...

I am not personally responsible for making sure everything gets done.

I know.

Take all the time you need.

For years I’ve been very:

“I can handle it.”

“Give it to me.”

“If I don’t do it, who will?”

Meanwhile several perfectly capable humans are standing nearby like...

👁️👄👁️

And maybe that’s the real question.

Why do I sometimes feel like being capable means I need to prove it repeatedly by carrying six things nobody asked me to carry?

Achievement is already achievement.

I don’t need to add exhaustion for decorative purposes.

So this week I’m practicing something radical:

Putting something down.

Letting somebody else handle it.

And resisting the urge to supervise their handling of it from three feet away.

Please respect this extremely difficult journey. 😂✨

Sometimes I feel...

meh.

Not sad.

Not happy.

Not particularly interested in launching an investigation into why I'm not sad or happy.

Just...

meh.

And lately I've been wondering why I always think I need to immediately DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

There is so much STUFF coming at me every day.

Things to remember.

Things to decide.

Notifications.

Responsibilities.

People asking questions I did not know were going to be on the exam.

Maybe occasionally my emotional department simply needs to hang a little sign on the door:

CLOSED FOR INVENTORY.

I don't have to force myself to feel inspired.

I don't have to manufacture happiness.

I don't have to become a glittering beacon of enthusiasm by lunchtime.

I can just be.

Eventually something will make me laugh again.

Something will excite me.

Something will make me curious.

I'll get there.

For now?

Life still has the potential to be great—even when my current review of it is simply:

"Meh. Three stars. Might revisit later." ✨

For a while, I thought I needed applause.

Not a standing ovation.

Just... a polite amount of enthusiastic clapping.

Turns out I've been waiting for recognition from people who didn't even know there was a performance.

Meanwhile...

I was there.

I watched myself keep showing up.

I watched myself solve problems.

I watched myself do hard things.

That counts.

Maybe today your biggest reminder is this:

Your greatness doesn't begin the moment someone else notices it.

It was already there.

So if nobody claps today...

Celebrate anyway.

You know what it took to become the person you are today.

And honestly?

I think that's worth celebrating. ✨

Lately I've been questioning one very suspicious life rule.

Who decided exhaustion was supposed to be my permanent personality?

For the longest time, I thought being constantly tired meant I was doing adulthood correctly.

Busy.

Productive.

Running entirely on determination and reheated coffee.

But recently I've been trying something different.

Leaving a few things for tomorrow.

Taking slower showers.

Lighting the candle before I "earn it."

Actually sitting down to eat lunch.

Wild behavior, honestly.

And here's the surprising part...

Life didn't fall apart.

The to-do list survived.

Tomorrow still showed up.

Turns out exhaustion doesn't have to be my normal.

Maybe it doesn't have to be yours either.

Life still has the potential to be great... especially when there's enough energy left to enjoy it. ✨

Lately I've been conducting a highly scientific experiment.

Instead of believing every notification, email, unfinished project, and mildly judgmental laundry pile needed immediate attention...

I simply...

slowed down.

Very controversial, I know.

Turns out the dishes waited.

The emails remained perfectly readable.

Tomorrow stubbornly continued existing.

And somehow I enjoyed my day a whole lot more.

If life has been feeling suspiciously loud lately, maybe today doesn't need more speed.

Maybe it just needs one deep breath.

Life still has the potential to be great.

Especially when I stop trying to finish all of it before lunch. ✨

I used to apologize for absolutely everything.

Someone bumped into me?

"Sorry."

The cashier handed me the wrong bag?

"...sorry?"

At some point I apparently decided existing required an apology every fifteen minutes.

Very polite.

Very unnecessary.

Lately I've been trying something revolutionary.

Existing...

without apologizing for it.

Turns out taking up space isn't rude.

Having needs isn't selfish.

Asking questions isn't inconvenient.

Being wonderfully, gloriously yourself isn't something you have to earn.

So if you catch yourself apologizing simply because you're breathing near another human today...

maybe pause first.

Take a deep breath.

Remember that you matter.

You belong here.

And the world can absolutely handle the magnificent inconvenience of you existing exactly as you are.

Confession...

I bought this fragrance quite a while ago.

Then...

I never opened it.

It just sat there.

Apparently I had completely lost my senses.

The day I finally uncapped it...

OH.

THIS was the peach fragrance.
