FINALLY A LOUNGE FLOOR đ„Čđ«¶â€
This house has never seen a real floor....UNTIL NOW đ!
Whilst the wife and children were away on holiday, I was busy working hard to get a floor laid in the house. We now have parquet laminate flooring with underfloor heating. WHAT A GAME CHANGER! This is the first time I'd ever laid a floor like this or worked with underfloor heating. I'm really proud of this job for my first time, and so happy that the family now have a nicer space to relax.
This was not possible without the help of a special follower who wished to remain anonymous and donated the funds to be able to do this job. We are forever grateful, and still taken aback by your generous offer to help with this really important, life-changing home improvement. It will never, ever be forgotten. The same goes for anyone who has helped in the past. Thank you so much. We love you guys.

We left everything behind and took a huge risk.
Not a calculated, well-funded move.
We didnât sell a house. We didnât have savings tucked away.
We packed up our caravan, loaded up the kids, the dogs, the cat â and left the UK for rural Bulgaria.
We didnât know what we were walking into.
No job lined up. No big plan. No safety net.
Just this gut feeling that we needed to try something different.
Weâd been living paycheck to paycheck. Renting. Stuck in the loop.
And we knew that unless we made a drastic change, nothing would ever really change.
We bought this house â falling apart, no electrics, no plumbing â for just under ÂŁ7,000.
It came with an acre and a half of land. And a lot of work.
We knew it would be tough. But we also knew it could be worth it.
We still have bills. We still have overheads.
Itâs not like weâre living without costs â but the burden is different. Lighter.
We donât have rent or a mortgage hanging over us.
General costs like council tax are far lower than back in the UK.
And owning our home outright at 30? Thatâs something most people back home only dream of.
Here, weâve got the space and freedom to chase self-sufficiency for real â not just dream about it.
Weâre not fully there yet. But weâre getting closer every day.
We knew weâd have to take on all the renovation work ourselves.
There was no budget for contractors, no team to call in.
Every job â from plumbing to roofing, sewage to tiling â weâve figured it out along the way.
Some days, with barely the right tools. Most days, just with stubbornness and the will to get it done.
Itâs been exhausting at times.
Weâve had moments where we genuinely didnât know how weâd pull through.
But we just kept going.
Because we had to.
We werenât just trying to build a home â we were trying to build a new way of life.
One where we werenât trapped by rent or bills or that constant feeling of being behind.
And here, in this little village in the middle of nowhere, weâve found that.
We grow our own food. Weâve got space for the kids to run.
We have the freedom to live a bit slower. To breathe.
Weâre not finished. Nowhere near.
But weâre finally heading in a direction that feels right for us.
Not everyone will get it.
Thatâs okay.
We didnât do this to impress anyone. We did it to take back control of our lives.
So if youâre someone whoâs ever thought, âThereâs got to be more than thisâŠâ
Youâre right â there is.
It doesnât have to be Bulgaria.
It just has to be somewhere that fits you.
Somewhere that gives you what you need.
The worldâs a big old place, with more options than youâve been led to believe.
But weâve been conditioned to think we only have one path.
One way to live.
Stay where you are. Do what you're told. Keep your head down.
Itâs not true.
Stop letting other people think for you.
Stop letting other people tell you what you can and canât do, where you can and canât go.
Start listening to yourself.
Because if we could do thisâwith no money, no jobs, two kids, two dogs, a cat, and a caravan â
Then you better believe itâs possible.
But youâve got to want it.
Youâve got to be willing to struggle.
To sacrifice.
To put yourself through uncomfortable, stressful moments so you can take your life back.
Youâve got to fight for it.
Nobodyâs coming to save you.
But you can absolutely save yourself.

After 20+ years of being choked by relentless vines, our cherry tree is finally free. Itâs the first time in decades that it hasnât been strangled, and we gave it a fresh coat of lime washâpartly because the neighbours do it, but also because it helps deter insects, prevent fungal growth, and protect the bark from sun damage and temperature swings. It feels great to be doing jobs like this, bringing forgotten things back to life and saving more of the land around us. Another job done, another tree saved.

"We Paid ÂŁ7K for This House. Hereâs What That REALLY Got Us"
We bought a house on the internet. No viewing. No survey. Just a video tour and a dream.
For ÂŁ7K, we became homeowners of a 2-acre plot in Bulgaria. A three-bedroom house, a separate summer house, and a huge stone barn. It sounded too good to be true.
And in some ways, it was.
When we first arrived, we were overwhelmed with joy. It was ours. After years of struggling in the UK, here we wereâtouching the walls of our very own home. Then, we opened the gate.
Reality hit.
The roof was falling in.
The ceilings were collapsing.
The windows were smashed.
The wiring was so dangerous the whole house needed a full rewire.
There was no water. The pipes had burstâabove ground and underground.
No electricity. No toilet. No way to move in.
And, as if to welcome us, a huge beesâ nest blocked our way in.
There we stoodâtwo adults, two kids, two dogs, a cat, and every single thing we ownedâtrapped outside our own land in 42°C heat.
And then, as we tried to process it all, a neighbour casually told us the house was about to be demolished because it was falling off a cliff.
Oh. Sh*t.
At that moment, it felt like weâd made the biggest mistake of our lives. No safety net. No savings. No backup plan. Just sheer determination (and maybe a little bit of madness).
But what people donât see in these big âwe changed our livesâ stories⊠is what happens behind closed doors.
While I (Lewis) was outside every dayâfixing the house, digging trenches, trying to make this place liveableâJordan was inside the caravan, alone, with a one-year-old.
No air conditioning. Just a tiny fan blowing hot air around.
No running water.
No escape.
She was exhausted, stressed, and completely trapped. She didnât feel safe. The weight of it all hit hard. One day, she looked at me and said:
"If this doesnât get better in a month, Iâm leaving. Iâm going f**ing home."*
And honestly? I didnât blame her.
It wasnât just about fixing up an old house. It was about holding onto ourselves, our family, and our belief that we could actually pull this off.
And thenâjust as we felt completely aloneâour neighbours showed up.
They thought we were crazy, but they wanted us to succeed. They saw we had nothing and started bringing us food from their own gardens. Fresh vegetables, homemade cheese, gifts from their land. In that moment, we realised something: we werenât just building a house, we were finding a new way of life.
So, was ÂŁ7K enough? Not really.
We had legal fees, unexpected repairs, and more costs than we ever imagined. We didnât budget well enough. We didnât know half of what we were getting into. But somehow, we made it work.
Would we do it again?
In a heartbeat.
Itâs been the hardest, most rewarding thing weâve ever done. We own our home, we grow our own food, weâve built a life where we actually get to live. It hasnât been easyâitâs been sacrifice, struggle, and setbacks. But the trade-off? More time with our kids, freedom from the rat race, and a life that truly feels like ours.
So, would you take this risk?
