THE ART OF LINKEDIN PROFILE BUILDING

The expert talk/ session started with taking the Startup Founders and Aspiring Entrepreneurs on a Journey of Self-Assessment of their LinkedIn Profile, based on three Core Areas - Visibility, Networking and Credibility. To grow visibility on LinkedIn it was emphasised to optimize LinkedIn Introduction Card, sharing status updates and published articles, and engaging with networks, which will fill the LinkedIn network eventually with quality contacts. Going deeper, build a network by reviewing who has viewed your profile and join LinkedIn Groups of similar trade/ profession, industry-specific local and global groups, based on the nature of their work.
Finally, improve or re-establish credibility or individual's/ company's brand of good standing on Linkedin by building relationships with their online community by being accessible, getting involved in conversations by putting their views on different topics of interest and expertise, and appreciating the good posts/ articles/ thoughts.
Engaged a virtual session on "Performance Appraisal” for 100+ participants connected individually/ through nodal centres, under one week online training programme on "Strategic Planning and Management", being organized by Entrepreneurship Development & Industrial Coordination (EDIC) Department, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, Chandigarh, from 24-28 April, 2023.
The virtual dialogue/ session on the onset talked about the developmental and administrative benefits to the employee coupled with strategic benefits to the organisation, which was followed by the case studies in using ethical practices to solve complex Performance Appraisal and Promotion cases. These case studies make us realise the challenges in the appraisal system for any organisation and eventually co-design a process with timelines for implementing an effective, transparent and structured appraisal system.
The virtual dialogue further concluded with an insightful discussion between the resource person and participants on how appraisal should be linked to the promotion and career path, finally resulting in achieving the goals (Self-Management, Behavioral, Creativity & Innovation, and Professional Development Goals) for employee and goals (Collaboration, People Management, Negotiating skills, and Communication Goals) for employer.
