Hello, for those wondering why content from my "Jack of Black Phoenix Music" channel is missing, it's because the channel recently got a barrage of copyright strikes for I.G.I.-2 soundtracks which subsequently led YouTube to terminate that channel on the spot.
On the bright side, while all of the tracks on that channel are sadly gone, it was made on a completely separate account so the music I had uploaded here should be still safe (at least for now)
While it's sad that this chain of events led to many other unrelated tracks to be taken down aswell, ultimately it is the author's right and I always felt like this day was going to come one way or the other. I have never profited off of the "unreleased" mixes I've put together from gamerip files, nor did I have an intention to offend any musicians by posting their work this way. I've had the privilege of exchanging a few words with many of them over the years and while most are supportive of fan-made mixes, few of them obviously are very protective of their work which is understandable.
As of this moment I'm not sure if I will reupload the lost tracks not targeted by the copyright strikes, while I don't really deal with mixing gamerip music anymore, I am aware that a lot of people enjoyed the Musical Journey series so I might look into at least reinstating that in some form. I will update you once a decision has been made in regards to that.
EDIT: A new channel dedicated to restoring the musical journeys has been made, I will do my best to reupload the non-offending mixes there in upcoming days/weeks aswell as some previously unreleased mixes I never had opportunity to publish.
Brief message from the grave since a lot of Battlefield vets are still hanging around: I recently released an article on my website diving into the The Cut Content of Battlefield V alongside raw gameplay showcasing some of it. For the sake of the good ol' days of BFV glory, if you're interested in checking it out here's the link to the article (you have to open it manually since YouTube nuked my channel privileges):
As some of you may have noticed, the name and appearance of this channel has changed recently. Unfortunately, my time with is coming to an end, as getting (understandably) demonetized and ejected from the partner program likely put me at a disadvantage with the YT algorithms. The only way to move forward would be to delete all music-related content which I'm not going to do. As the interest in the new type of content I've been experimenting with was rather low, I don't have much to lose so I've decided to give myself a fresh start on a new channel @JackOfBlackPhoenix2
This is where I'm going to continue my journey with content creation, which includes the stuff I wanted to do for a VERY long time - from Battlefield & Wolfenstein Codex series (premiering in October!), to concepts, retrospectives, exploration of cut content, industry insights etc.
My separate music channel @Jack of Black Phoenix Music will continue to be active, with at least one more Musical Journey coming this year. I'm also exploring the idea of organizing listen-along parties to celebrate select soundtracks, more info on that might come later this year or early 2024.
As for this old channel, I might still use it on occasion as a dumping ground for addendums such as raw leftover footage from the videos on my new main channel, but otherwise do not expect anything of real value here - if anything at all.
If you're interested in any of the content stated above then I'll see you around on the respective channels - otherwise, you're welcome to unsub in which case I bid you a farewell. Regardless of your decision, I hope you'll have a nice weekend!
Today, EA has announced that online functions of Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 1 and Bad Company 2 will be shut down on December 8th of this year. It was bound to happen one day, but it still hurts all the same 😔
It also came as an unexpected twist for me, as I am in the middle of production on the first season of Battlefield Codex. Because of this announcement, I might have to change the trajectory and put more focus on content from these games while there is still time and opportunity. Not sure what it means in the long run, but we'll figure it out as we go. For now, let's enjoy these games while we still can 🙂
Heads up! Schedule for content migration over to @Jack of Black Phoenix Music in January:
07.01 The Sound of The Wolf Among Us: A Musical Journey through Fabletown (Reprise) 14.01 The Sound of Battlefield Bad Company: A Musical Journey through Russo-American War (Reprise) 21.01 The Sound of Battlefield 1: A Musical Journey through World War I (v2) 28.01 The Sound of Battlefield V: A Musical Journey through World War II (v2)
Coming up later in the year:
The Sound of Battlefield: A Musical Journey through the Modern Conflict (BF3+BF4) The Sound of Battlefield Hardline: A Musical Journey through War on Crime The Sound of Half-Life: A Musical Journey through Black Mesa The Sound of Half-Life 2: A Musical Journey beyond City 17
As for the upcoming content here on this channel, I'm planning to premiere the Codex series alongside other videos in February. I will share a more detailed plan for that early next month. Until then, have a good one!
I want to share this for anyone who may have missed it, because it's important to highlight the issues with toxic management in the video game industry, especially when it comes to the questionable treatment of contracted artists:
It has been roughly a year since I decided to expand the channel beyond game music. It has been an interesting year of experimentation and finding my way through the world of video production. Thank you to those who chose to stick around, at this point I am done with most of the videos and topics I wanted to touch upon throughout the year and as such, I plan to move on to the more significant projects in the near future.
I have mentioned it a couple of months ago that I would love to focus on history, lore, concepts and exploring cut content of various video games. There are quite a few of those that I want to cover, but for the sake of my own sanity, for now I'm going to focus on just two franchises: Battlefield and Wolfenstein. I want to produce a couple of episodes ahead of time in order to release the first few of them on a regular schedule, which means that the channel might go quiet for a couple of months. I'm currently aiming to premiere the lore series at some point between Q3/Q4 2022.
In the meantime, I do plan to keep uploading music on my second channel, including some new Musical Journeys which are going to premiere throughout the Summer www.youtube.com/channel/UCF74...
I'm also starting to open up my Discord server up to the public - even tho it's primarily meant for a modding studio, we do have some gaming channels dedicated to Battlefield, Wolf and Half-Life so if you want to come and chat about these games (or music) feel free to drop by! discord.gg/FCF28jfEDD
In the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy the summertime, stay safe!
