The Strait of Hormuz (which handles 20% of global oil) is effectively frozen after severe US-Israel-Iran military escalations. A massive traffic jam of over 150 tankers is backed up in the Gulf right now.
2/ THE "TON-MILE" EFFECT
Because the Persian Gulf and Red Sea are high-risk zones, ships are being forced to detour all the way around Africa via the Cape of Good Hope. Longer journeys mean tankers are tied up for weeks, instantly wiping out global vessel supply.
