My good friend and fellow conlanger Carl Buck, creator of Kala and its many fantastic conscripts, has started a series reviewing conlang writing systems. Check out the new episode on Klingon here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_d4g...

Just posted the first video on the second channel, and the first video in my Lexember speedrun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4seR...

All conlanging case study episodes will be on the second channel from now on, though they'll still be added to the playlist on the main channel.

If you’re a conlanger, or have any interest in conlanging at all, then you might like to take 5 minutes to fill out the 2024 Conlanger Census: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdeENnC3hPd8fjVp0…. Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate, even if you haven’t made any conlangs yourself and just enjoy consuming conlanging content. As always, once enough responses are in, Agma Schwa will be making a video about the results over on his channel (youtube.com/@AgmaSchwa)

Tomorrow at 8:00 pm BST, I'll be joining my teammates @Artifexian and Jessie Peterson to face off against George Corley (@Conlangery), Logan Kearsley, and Margrett Ransdell-Green in the next episode of Conlang Conflict (basically linguistics-themed Family Feud): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcTfC...

This Friday at 6 pm UTC, I'll be joining ‪@Artifexian‬, David Peterson (‪@LangTimeStudio‬ ), ‪@AgmaSchwa‬, George Corley (‪@conlangery‬), and Joey Windsor for a D&D one-shot to test out the Draconic conlang Ndăkaga that George has been working on for the past few months on his show Tongues and Runes. Plus, you might recognize some elements of my character if you've watched my Refugium videos or my Ilothwii showcase (if you've ever wanted to know what an acolyte of Nga'uri-thaal is like in person, tune in to find out).

I wanted to clarify some of the points I raised in the final Alien Biospheres episode: while I don’t think it’s controversial to say that the way a species evolves will influence its psychology to some degree, I don’t mean to downplay the importance of cultural factors. The intent of the video was to focus exclusively on the biological basis for sapient behaviors and to leave discussions of culture for future videos (this series is supposed to focus on biology, after all), but there is a danger of being too deterministic when it comes to finding evolutionary explanations for behaviors, and in hindsight, I do feel like I came across as leaning a bit too much into bioessentialism. Obviously, boiling down real-world issues like discrimination and war to just instincts is a reductive overgeneralization, and I’m sorry if I misrepresented any of the topics I talked about. I know that evolutionary psychology and bioessentialism can get mixed up with a lot of outdated and pseudoscientific ideas, and contributing to or being associated with those is the last thing I want. Like I said in the beginning of the video, this whole topic is very speculative and susceptible to personal biases, so always think critically when reading up on these sorts of topics (especially when they’re coming from some random person on the internet like me).

So, for some reason the premiere doesn't seem to be showing up in people's subscription feeds, but Alien Biospheres Part 15 will be airing today at 7 pm BST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dGZj...
