Fun fact: I actually worked for a K-pop choreographer like 13 years ago 😱.

Back in my day, K-pop wasn't as mainstream as it is now. I often hear my students in class talking about their favorite K-pop groups and idols.

Sure, K-pop was pretty popular when I was in college, but it was mostly popular among Korean or Asian kids. Nowadays, it seems like everybody likes K-pop, no matter their ethnicity – White, Black, Latino, Asian, etc. It's amazing how this genre of music brings so many people together.

I thought I’d make a video talking about why K-pop is such a trending topic. I became really interested in this after watching the Netflix show "Popstar Academy." It brought back a lot of memories from my own experience. Hope you guys enjoy the video!

Moana 2 Digital Painting Process. Just created this for my digital painting class. Very happy with how it came out.

The steps are:
1) Sketch
2) Local Color
3) Shadows
4) Ambient Occlusion
5) Highlights

This is a process for getting a 3D aesthetic in 2D.

Hey guys - just reached another milestone on Youtube. I'm at 1.3k subscribers right now. But I've been noticing that some of my videos on youtube are slowly gaining traction - especially the Art Careers video - it's got 3k views right now.

Thank you for everyone's support. Slowly but surely we will get there.

One of my 2024 New Year's resolutions is to learn how to use AI tools better. I am an artist. I'm also very conservative in mindset. When artists started learning how to use digital tools in 2006, I stuck with my paints and markers until I was forced to learn Photoshop. When all the artists began integrating 3D modeling into their work in 2010, I didn't want to participate. I wanted to stick to what I knew and what I was good at. However, this hindered my career growth a lot. I still am minimally competent at 3D modeling.

In this New Year 2024, I've resolved to learn how to use AI tools. It doesn't need to be great. I don't need to understand all the functions; I just want to do it.

Here, I have a hand sketch, and I used Viscom AI to color it in. It was passable, but it looked horrendous. I then put it into Leonardo AI for more rendering. It's still a long way to go. Finally, I put it into Photoshop for photo-compositing and digital painting for another 2-3 hours.

If I were a little more competent with AI tools, I probably wouldn't need to spend that much time doing things manually. But hey, it's a start. I plan to do a whole series of these. I had a good time.

I plan to upload a video process soon.
