A house is not a place—it is a pulse
I have carried in my throat.
It beats when the walls tremble,
when the cupboards empty their quiet confessions,
when the floorboards remember footsteps
that no longer belong to us.
I am the one who steadies the air—
palms pressed to the ribs of chaos,
whispering it back into rhythm.
I gather the scattered hours,
stitch daylight to dusk
with thread pulled from my own breath.
There is always a moment—
just before departure—
when the world inhales too sharply.
Doors become verdicts.
Suitcases, small coffins of continuity.
Even the mirrors refuse to hold us
the same way twice.
And still—
I do not break.
No—
I become something quieter, more feral in its grace.
A lighthouse built from bone and rhythm.
singing through stormwater lungs.
We leave.
Again, we leave.
But I have learned the language of vanishing—
how it does not mean ending,
only the art of becoming elsewhere.
Listen—
there is a faith that does not shout,
does not beg for proof or prophecy.
It lives low in the body,
a velvet certainty curled inside the ribs.
Close to the heart.
A guard.
It tells me:
You have survived every unraveling you have named “home.”
It tells me:
The ground is not beneath you—it is within you.
So I gather them—
my constellations in human form—
hold their trembling hands like sacred text,
and walk us forward through the dark
as if I had written the ending myself.
Because somewhere—
beyond the repetition of loss,
beyond the ache of starting over—
there is a softness waiting for us.
And I—
A strange, unwavering and rigid believer—
trust it completely.
