Reed Richards’ descent into madness in Marvel Zombies is one of the most disturbing character arcs in the series—and it’s rooted in both personal tragedy and twisted scientific obsession:

🧠 The Spark of Madness: In Marvel Zombies: Dead Days, Reed is devastated when his children, Franklin and Valeria, are devoured by a zombified She-Hulk while locked away in his lab. This trauma shatters him emotionally, but instead of grieving in a conventional way, Reed’s mind takes a dark turn.

🔬 Obsession with “Evolution”: Rather than fighting the infection, Reed becomes fascinated by the zombies themselves. He starts to believe that the virus represents a form of biological advancement—a superior evolutionary path for humanity. This isn’t just curiosity; it’s a full-blown ideological shift.

💀 The Ultimate Betrayal: Reed’s obsession leads him to infect his own family—Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm—deliberately. He sees it as a “gift,” and allows himself to be bitten as well. From there, he becomes one of the leaders of the zombie horde, helping to destroy the last remnants of hope in their universe.
