Tony-nominated actor Jonathan Freeman is best known to Disney fans as the unforgettable voice of Jafar in Aladdin (1992) and its sequel The Return of Jafar. His chilling, theatrical performance helped define Jafar as one of Disney's most iconic animated villains.
Freeman's Disney legacy extends far beyond voice work. On Broadway, he originated Grimsby in The Little Mermaid, played Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast, and appeared as Admiral Boom and the Bank Chairman in Mary Poppins (2009).

Happy 65th Anniversary to 101
Dalmatians!
Released on this day in 1961, One Hundred and One Dalmatians became Disney's 17th animated feature and one of its most visually distinctive films.
Set in modern-day London, the story follows Pongo and Perdita as they race to rescue their stolen puppies from the unforgettable villain Cruella de Vil, brilliantly voiced by Betty Lou Gerson. Pongo himself was voiced by Rod Taylor, adding warmth and charm to the determined dalmatian dad.
101 Dalmatians was the first Disney animated feature to fully use the Xerox process, developed at the studio by Ub Iwerks.
Instead of hand-inking every drawing onto animation cels, animators' original pencil lines were transferred directly to the cels.
This not only dramatically sped up production and reduced costs, but also gave the film its sketchier, graphic look, perfect for animating hundreds of spotted dogs without losing detail.
The film was directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, Hamilton Luske, and Clyde Geronimi, veterans of Disney's golden age.
Its successful new animation style helped save Disney money during a difficult financial period, influencing the look of many animated films throughout the 1960s.
Sixty-five years later, 101 Dalmatians remains a landmark in Disney history, bold, stylish, and proof that innovation can completely reshape animation.
