Yin & Restore with Anna Viktoria

Today I’m down with a cold 🤧 (sitting still in AC after a sweaty run is no bueno.) So with plenty of time for home treatment, I wanted to share my favourite immunity point. Works for acupressure too, massage in clockwise circles.

It’s called Stomach 36, or “Leg Three Miles” (Zu San Li) in TCM, one of the most used points for boosting immunity and supporting digestion, found on the lower leg.

To find it: four finger-widths below your kneecap, just to the outside of your shin bone. Press into the muscle there. You’ll usually feel a slight tenderness when you’re on the point.

What it really does is strengthen Wei Qi which is our protective energy, connected to the lungs. Ive learned to think of it as a shield or an aura. Living in alignment with our truth strengthens it, while gossip and going against ourselves creates little holes that let imbalance in.

What are your favourite home remedies?

Stay well 🤍

Yin & Restore with Anna Viktoria

HI friends,

I immediately felt it, that this one is going to be an important journey. We all carry grief, old and new. We all move through sadness, heavy and light. And somehow we keep going, because there is no other way. It's a place that feels indescribably harsh and lonely to navigate. Even though we don't believe it, it does gets better with time. And it lightens when shared.

When I lost my father to brain cancer in 2019, my understanding of grief completely changed. And it changed me. Brought me closer to seeing a glimpse of how we are all connected, through time and space.

I learned that the sadness in my chest will never leave me. Even though it never was and never will be easy, I also opened my eyes to appreciate the connections that are right here, right now: alive. And to experience life as a precious chance. Unpredictable, tender and non-repeatable.

Yoga helped me move though so much of my emotional processing. So I have created a sequence designed to walk you through the energetics of grief. Yin yoga with acupressure based on the wisdom of Traditional Chinese medicine.

Looking forward to share this special practice with you.

September workshop: The alchemy of grief

A Yin yoga journey into the Metal element, the lungs and the Po spirit.

In nature, autumn truly shows us the grace of surrender. We learn that nothings lasts forever as we get to witness the beauty of decay when the leaves turn rusty red before they fall to the ground to fragment back into the soil. The metal element in Chinese Five Element Theory represents the process of shifting from movement and growth to dormancy. From yang to yin.

This season is inviting us to slow down and bring appreciation to the fact that we have a life! A precious, unique, magnificent life.

The Lungs are connected to the emotion of Sadness and grief. Loss and hurt humbles us, teaches us about impermanence. It brings us back to what is deeply, truly valuable to us.

It's the dance and balance between control and savoring life.
Rejecting death vs. valuing life.

The metal element teaches us to live with change and impermanence. It points us back to the courage to live life fully, in the precious coming and going of it all.

With it's durable, malleable and opaque qualities, the Metal element takes us deep into our soul longing: to feel belonging

and a part of our human mystery that leaves no one untouched:

the art of holding on and letting go.

Welcome to a 90- min Yin yoga workshop for the Metal element.

We'll explore the energetics of its related organs according to Traditional Chinese medicine, the lungs and the large intestine as well as the corresponding emotions; sadness and grief.

Weaving theory, acupressure, yin postures and somatic awareness into a practice that supports you to be nourished by your own life.

This workshop will give you:

Three acupoints to work with on your own

A complete Yin sequence that you can return to again and again

Journaling prompts to carry the practice forward

Access to the recording for four weeks

When we consciously choose to give our nervous system a break,
we allow our entire system to recalibrate.

Less stimulation and less information,
nothingness is the soil where somethingness can grow.

In this 90-minute workshop we’ll explore the wisdom of Shen, the spirit of the heart. How we tend to lose the connection with our hearts when something sudden happens in life, and the ways of bringing our soul back into the body through finding stillness.
Weaving theory, acupressure, yin postures and somatic awareness into a practice that supports you to hold yourself andbeing in your world, without burning out.

Yin & Restore with Anna Viktoria

Your heart has been beating since 22 days after conception and will not stop until the moment of death.

The heart is seen as the governor of the body, the Supreme controller. Without the heart, the rhythm of life is silence.

At its center is a void. Emptiness (wu). A space that must be protected so the spirit of the heart, the Shen, has a home.

The heart does this through wu wei, doing by not doing. Knowing when to act and when to be still. And the heart’s gate keepers: the small intestine, the pericardium and the triple burner. Energetically, they help discern what’s yours and what’s not. What and who gets to come all the way in, and touch the heart.

It’s the peak of Yang. Can you feel it?
The Fire season asks us to find balance between connection, space and boundaries.

Join me for an online Yin Yoga journey exploring the fire element and the gatekeepers of the heart.
