The Commissioner for Works ( Rural Roads ) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has advised public relations managers and information officers in the public service to exhibit professionalism in conduct and appearance at wherever they serve.
Mr. Aniagwu who gave the charge while declaring open a media retreat organised by the Ministry of Information, harped on the need for Information Officers, who are Public Relations Officers, to put up good appearance that depict who they are, display good and quality conduct at their ministries, departments and agencies ( MDAs ), and make conscious effort that would add value to the office they represent.

Speaking further at the one day media workshop christened: " Leveraging AI Tools for Information Delivery" he explained that the primary duty of Public Relations Officers, was to make friends for the organization they represent, even as he promised that subject to the availability of fund subsequent seminars would be outside the state.

He charged them on the need to update their knowledge, apply themselves to research, improve in communication skills and adapt to digital evolution by using AI Tools while carrying out their duties, urging participants to apply the knowledge acquired to achieve optimum service delivery.
According to Aniagwu: " Knowing who you are as a Public Relations Officers is very important. We are called Relations Managers. If they call you PRO, in this case, Public Relations Officers, the question is, what are you relating? So, as a PR manager, your appearance is very important.
"Secondly, is your conduct. Because if you dress very well as PR manager and you are not conducting yourself in the best attitude, even that your appearance by way of dressing becomes zero."

Mr. Aniagwu advised public relations managers to be sensitive while relating with people of diverse personalities to create positive image of their principals.
Aniagwu also urged information officers to cultivate good interpersonal relationship, which would be an added advantage towards achieving the goals and objectives of the ministry they represent.
Earlier, the functioning Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Harrod Ojji commended the governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the commissioner, Mr Charles Aniagwu, for approving the capacity building workshop, which is in line with the M.O.R.E Agenda of the present administration.
Ojji said the workshop would help to increase performance and productivity amongst information officers in the state.
The interactive workshop featured lectures on writing of memoranda, minutes of meetings, reports, and leveraging AI tools for information delivery and newsroom culture.
