📌 Rolling Margin is the actual difference between the theoretical weight and actual weight of reinforcement steel, measured on-site.
📐 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙪𝙡𝙖:
Rolling Margin (%) = (Actual Weight – Theoretical Weight) / Theoretical Weight × 100
📘 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 (𝗔𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗦 𝟭𝟳𝟴𝟲:𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟴, 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝟴.𝟮)
This defines the maximum permissible deviation in mass per meter of steel bars:
🔹 Upto 10 mm ➡ ± 7%
🔹 10 mm – 16 mm ➡ ± 5%
🔹 Above 16 mm ➡ ± 3%
✅ 𝙆𝙚𝙮 𝘿𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚:
🔸 ʀᴏʟʟɪɴɢ ᴍᴀʀɢɪɴ = What you actually measure on site
🔸 ᴛᴏʟᴇʀᴀɴᴄᴇ = What is allowed as per IS code
🧠 If the rolling margin is within the permissible tolerance, the steel is acceptable. If not, it may be rejected or penalized.

🧱 If you're curing concrete for just 3–4 days... you're risking CRACKS, WEAKNESS, and even FAILURE!
Read this before your next pour 👇:
🧱 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐬 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐂𝐂?
📖 As per IS 456:2000 – Clause 13.5.1
✅ Curing = Life of Concrete
It helps in:
🔹 Strength development ✓
🔹 Crack prevention ✓
🔹 Better durability ✓
🔹 Reduced permeability ✓
🔹 Controlled Heat of Hydration (prevents thermal cracks) ✓
🔥 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?
When cement reacts with water, it releases heat.
👉 If curing isn’t done, this heat can cause shrinkage and cracks.
💧 Curing helps control this heat and ensures strong, durable concrete.
📊 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 (𝐈𝐒 𝟒𝟓𝟔:𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟎):
1.) OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) - 7 days
2.) Dry & Hot Weather - 10 days
3.) Mineral Admixtures / Blended Cement (PPC, PSC, Fly Ash, GGBS) - 10–14 days
𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗽:
Start curing ASAP after the final setting using:
✅ Water ponding
✅ Wet hessian cloth
✅ Water spray
✅ Curing compound
✅ Plastic sheeting
