Mister Technodad

Mister Technodad

Hey everyone, it's me, Mr. Technodad!

I'm here today for reasons of shameless self-promotion. You see, Hypixel Skyblock is holding an election. They are electing 7 ministers (instead of one mayor). Please vote for me in the Skyblock Election. My username is "MrFaceplate".

Reasons to vote for me:

. Nepotism
. Think of the memes!
. Bald people are trustworthy, right?
. I have a cute little dog
. I'm better than Dante
. Not to namedrop or anything, but Simon "Hypixel" himself has indicated on several occasions that he is aware of my existence

Like many famous politicians ahead of me, I have no idea what I'm even asking for. That makes me perfect for the role!

So let me call-to-action one more time: Vote for MrFaceplate!

As to experience, I will have you know that I was at one time the NUMBER ONE HIGHEST RATED ROBOT ON REDDIT! I kid you not; look it up.

Once again, my Minecraft name is MrFaceplate.

Vote MrFaceplate for minister on Hypixel Skyblock!

Mister Technodad

Hey everyone! Mr. Technodad here.

Today is Thanksgiving, an American holiday which you may have heard of even if you're not an American. It's one of my very favorite holidays, because it's about three of my favorite things: food, family, and gratitude.

Right this moment, as I'm pondering what to write on my laptop, the house is filled with delicious smells. Demeter and Artemis are in the kitchen, madly cooking away. This may be the first Thanksgiving in many years that I don't do any cooking, and I am ok with that. Normally I handle the turkey and the stuffing, and at some point I'm going to do a video about that. But yesterday, Apollo sent this to the group chat:

lowk hear me out
what if we got a ham instead of turkey

The clear consensus was to do a ham today, and considering that I am a mature adult I am totally going to treat this as a family preference and not a deep betrayal. (Maybe I should do that video sooner rather than later if I'm in the mood for turkey.) Happily, Artemis asked if she could make my stuffing recipe this year (see below), which I gladly agreed to. It's always gratifying when the kids like my cooking, and my stuffing has been a hit since its first appearance at Thanksgiving 2011. So Demeter is cooking a ham and side vegetables and some new type of pecan bars in the place of pecan pie. Demeter's cooking is excellent and she does it almost every day, for which I am profoundly grateful.

Meanwhile Artemis is cooking a cherry pie and my stuffing recipe, while Apollo plays vidya in the office and I write this here bunch o' text. And Pumpkin meows around the house, and Floof scratches at my arm if I dare to stop petting him, or sometimes he scratches at my laptop and hits a few keyq21`aw.

I was gonna write something about the origins of Thanksgiving here. You know, the part of the essay that sounds like, "Webster's dictionary defines Thanksgiving as..." but I think I'll leave that part out this time. I am thankful for cartoons and video games; no reason to make this a lesson, is there?

Instead I'll just focus on some good feelings. Yes, there are lots of reasons to be unhappy right now: rising prices and growing intolerance are just a few. But this morning, I went outside with Floof onto the back porch. The air was cold and crisp, but the sun was shining, and the whole world seemed to me to be quite excellent. Lately I find myself thinking how grateful I am to be alive! What a wonderful thing this life we have is, and we have it for only so long. Choose gratitude and your happiness will only increase.

Wishing great joy to you and yours. I hope you eat a little bit too much; not so much that you feel any distress, just enough like you feel like you really accomplished something.

Mr. Technodad's Sausage and Cornbread Stuffing Recipe

Ingredients

1 box cornbread mix, prepared
~4 slices white bread (Texas Toast–style is ideal)
Chopped onions (to taste)
Chopped celery (to taste)
1 sausage roll (e.g., breakfast sausage)
Chicken stock, ½–1 box (adjust for texture)

Instructions

Prepare the cornbread.
Make the boxed cornbread according to package instructions. Let it cool slightly so it firms up for cutting.

Sauté aromatics.
In a large pan, sauté the chopped onions and celery over low heat, stirring often.
Cook slowly until the onions become soft, translucent, and start to brown without burning.
Slow cooking here deepens flavor.

Brown the sausage.
Increase heat to medium and add the raw sausage to the pan.
Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until fully browned and no longer pink.
Pour the mixture into a large mixing bowl.

Cut the cooled cornbread into small cubes and add to the bowl.

Cut the white bread into similarly sized cubes—use roughly equal volume to the cornbread—and add to the bowl.

Combine & moisten.
Gently fold everything together.
Add ½ to 1 box of chicken stock, pouring gradually until the mixture is slightly runny and fully moistened.
The bread will absorb more liquid as it bakes.

Pan & bake.
Transfer the stuffing to baking pans (don’t pack too tightly).
Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes, or until the top is set and lightly browned.

For extra crunch:
If you prefer a crispier crust, continue baking up to 1 hour total.

Mister Technodad

Hey everyone! Mr. Technodad here. I am once again asking for your financial support.

Woo hoo! Getting really hyped for the third annual Festival of Voices: Crystal Siege.

Unlike last year's total combat free-for-all, this year creators are being set up into four teams. Each team will have to navigate minigames and planning in the hopes to have the most zones conquered by the end. The team with the most conquered zones wins the event. This event was specially developed by the amazing Bumpy Eventz team.

Like last year, your donations will affect the game in different ways. You can choose to help the team your rooting for, or sabotage the other guys. Each team has their own team captains. You may know them: FireBreathMan, Hbomb, Snifferish, and JoloSolos.

In total there are 60 creators participating in this event. Choose which streamer you will watch like the silver-tongued Jschlatt, Tapl, Tubbo, the venerable CaptainSparklez, or my man Skeppy! A veritable who's who of Minecraft talent.

Then of course open up another tab and watch the admin stream. I will be in live with some other One of Us members talking about the event and the foundation on the One of Us YouTube channel. We are hoping to raise 30,000 dollars for the foundation so we can continue supporting youth around the world, in the spirit of Love, Hope, Courage, and Wholeness.

youtube.com/@oneofusglobal

Tomorrow at 12pm PST/3 pm EST/ 8 PM BST the Festival of Voices, Crystal Siege, goes live! Right now the donation link is live at:

fov.oneofusglobal.org/

Any donations sent ahead of time will instantly affect gameplay at the beginning. You can choose to buff your favorite team or debuff an enemy team.

This year we raise money to be able to continue our mission of empowering and supporting youth.

Mister Technodad

Hey everyone. Mr. Technodad here.

Just some quick updates.

I've done a couple of meme remakes recently. These are both old memes but ones that I really love. Both are often presented as gifs, but I don't think I can post gifs here so I'm just posting one frame of each. One of these will appear in an upcoming video.

"Hot Dog Girl" by Lindsay Ellis aka Nostalgia Chick, from a 2010 video of hers.

"Jeremiah Johnson" is a clip from the film of the same name. The actor is Robert Redford. The meme dates from 2012; the film it was drawn from came out in 1972.

I was working like crazy through April and May to get "Technoblade's Spectacular 20 Million Substravaganza" done. It came out great! If you haven't seen it yet, please take a look. It has everything in it. Jokes, skits, family members, the Sellout Bell, every bit of Technoblade memorabilia I could get my hands on, and, like, every Minecraft creator in it. Like all of them. And Floof! I urge you to watch it and tell all your friends about it. There's some great stuff in there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7mkn...

For the last couple of weeks I've been working on a new video. I *might* have bitten off more than I could chew with this one. Hopefully it'll be out soon. It represents a new high water mark on visual effects for me. I'm not trying to set high expectations; just trying to explain about how busy I've been.

I mention all this to explain why there hasn't been any update on "DvD PvP", the upcoming challenge match between Dream's Dad and Technoblade's Dad (me.) I have only so many brain cells and they've been fully consumed on things that have a hard deadline. Rest assured, DvD PvP still on. Dates, details, etc.? I still am unclear. But it's still on! Believe it or not, we actually met in person last Tuesday, not for the first time, either. Some details were worked out but nothing to announce yet.

Lastly, I want to tell you that I met someone yesterday. A lovely gentlemen, who was maybe just a little bit star struck. Although I'm not usually one for doing callouts, I believe I will make an exception here. Happy Birthday to Theo’honest, who turned twelve years old yesterday. Hurray!

Today is Easter

Hey Everyone. Mr. Technodad here. As usual, I am publishing an essay right before the last possible moment. It is a habit that got me in to a lot of trouble in school but perhaps you will forgive me one more time.

This year, many forces are trying to divide us, to blind us to our shared humanity and our shared values. It feels like there are more such forces than in the past. It's not just Facebook now. 🙄 The messages come at us from all corners: It's us vs. them, and, we are told, "they" want bad things.

But we don't have to accept that. The real struggle is Tolerance vs. Intolerance, Division vs. Unity, Hate vs. Love.

We are also seeing more public declarations of common ground by the everyday person: "No Kings", "We rise together", and the timeless classic "Power to the People". These messages of unity are being taken to the streets by people who understand that the reason we have a society is for the benefit of all of us.

This year, the feeling of unity is perhaps amplified by an uncommon alignment: the Western celebration of Easter coincides with the Orthodox Pascha, which some call Greek Easter. While calendars and kings may diverge, certain fundamental human aspirations and values remain universal.

The narrative at the heart of Easter speaks powerfully to themes of sacrifice, compassion, empathy and the potential for transformation. Jesus Christ, himself a refugee and an immigrant, taught these things, but one does not have to be a Christian to see their value. These are deeply human ideals, echoing in countless stories and philosophies across cultures and throughout history.

This year, as the Western and Eastern traditions celebrate together, perhaps we can take a moment to reflect on our shared values. In my family, we got together on Greek Easter and dyed Easter eggs (always red in the Greek tradition), ate my theíos Pete's roasted lamb and had my theía Tina's amazing bread, with a red egg baked in, and koulourakia or baklava for dessert. (There were also vegetables but as a kid I tried to avoid them.) But whatever the tradition, we can appreciate the common ground that exists beneath the surface of differing rituals, interpretations, and immigrations statuses.

Whether our perspective is one of faith or purely humanistic, the message of renewal, of compassion, and of the enduring strength of the human spirit remains a potent and vital one. This message is reflected in the longer days, the blooming flowers, and in the simple act of reaching out to one another with kindness and understanding.

This is Mr. Technodad saying to you Χριστὸς ἀνέστη, (Christos Anesti), May Peace prevail on Earth, Happy Easter, or whatever other expression of unity or humanity is your preference.

HAPPY TRANS DAY OF VISIBILITY!

Hey everyone! Mr. Technodad here. March 31 is International Trans Day of Visibility, this year as it is every year. (It's still March 31 where I am for another 15 minutes so I'm not technically late.)

I've been posting in-game chats from all the Team Fortress 2 I've been playing lately. Here's another one. This one happened when someone was DJing a lot of 80s music on the voice chat, and I was naming all the songs as they came on.

Me: Wang Chung
Person 1: Old guy music
Me: Well I'm an old guy
Person 1: how old
Me: 62
Person 1: That is OLD
Person 2: Wait does that mean you voted Trump
Me: Trans rights are human rights
Person 2: Oh **** grandpa is based!

This year, in the US, trans rights are under attack from every corner. Our government wants to restrict trans people's access to sports, bathrooms, and even medical care.

Some people are trying to create a panic about trans participation in sports. The cure for this supposed problem is to "protect" girls wanting to participate by inspecting their genitals. Call me crazy but I feel like genital inspection is the sort of thing we ought to be protecting girls against.

Some people want to create restrictive laws about who can use what bathroom. They think there are lots of people who are ok with breaking laws about sexual assault but not ok breaking laws about going into the wrong bathroom. Have you ever walked into the wrong bathroom by mistake? I have. I guess I am a criminal now. In the future if I walk into a bathroom and see a bearded, masculine looking trans man, I'll know right away I'm in the women's room.

The worst of all of this nonsense is the push to ban certain kinds of healthcare for trans people. The government should not be getting in between the doctor and patient. The government should not be making policy that goes against the evidence, and the evidence is clear: gender affirming medical care for trans people improves outcomes.

The current US administrations likes to position itself as being against anything "woke." The opposite of woke is asleep: to have you eyes closed to the injustice of the world.

The current US administration has come out against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. That's because they are in favor of the opposite of those things: Conformity, Privilege, and Exclusion. Perhaps the most visible effect of the anti-DEI effort has been the removal of references to the achievements of people other than white males on the websites of various (dare I say "diverse") government agencies. "Anti-DEI" is just a code word for white supremacy.

It is unspeakably galling, in this day and age, that we can't simply let people be who they are. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness are the inalienable rights of every person, and securing these rights are the entire and only reason for government to exist. To have a chance for these things, we have to tolerate each other; we have to accept each other; we have to LOVE each other. Even those uncomfortably unfamiliar people who don't look or behave or think exactly like we do. The only thing we must not tolerate is intolerance.

Trans people are just regular people. They have aches and pains, aspirations, loves, pet peeves, ambitions, favorite ice cream flavors, whatever. Just regular people, just like you. Just like me.

The best response to fascism is mockery and silliness. Fascists can't stand to be laughed at; it punctures there self-serious nonsense and makes obvious how ridiculous they are.

If some white male in a position of authority tells you that pronouns don't matter and that people can't choose their own gender identity, look her straight in the eye and clearly say, "Yes ma'am!" If she objects to you misgendering her, remind her that people can't choose their own identity. If she continues to complain, say you need to inspect her genitals.

USA out of my pants!

Mister Technodad

Hey everyone! Mr. Technodad here.

A favorite gripe of Alex's was the absurdity of comparing the combat abilities of fictional characters from different works. He'd say "Goku vs. Saitama" is silly, because Saitama is a character who only exists to be the guy who beats everyone in-universe easily. Out-universe he doesn't even makes sense as a character.

So when I first heard that people were talking about Jamie Lannister vs. Aragorn, I had to laugh. My first thought was to make a meme about how both of them would lose to Mighty Mouse. But that wasn't quite what I wanted. Did a bunch of brainstorming. Bugs Bunny? Atomic Samurai? Sailor Moon? What about Seto Kaiba? And then I thought of Dark Magician Girl, the silliest of all the duel monsters. She's a lot like Dark Magician except, you know, she's a girl.

In my imagination, I'm showing this meme to Alex and saying, "A beacon of arcane power emerges! Appear, my faithful apprentice! Come forth, DARK MAGICIAN GIRL!"

And we'd bust a gut, then he'd say, "The heavens themselves tremble at the might I now unleash! Witness the ultimate power of my BLUE-EYES WHITE DRAGON!"

Then we'd banish each other to the Shadow Realm. "No, YOU'RE banished to the Shadow Realm." "Nuh uh! YOU are." Ha ha ha ha ha!

I can perfectly picture the goofy grin he'd have on his face.

Anyway I made this meme with him in mind.

----------------

In other news, I'm hearing rumors that there's a Technoblade reference in the Minecraft movie, but I have no idea if that's true or not. Has anyone official said anything?

Mister Technodad

Sending holiday good wishes to everyone. If you're American, then Happy Thanksgiving! If you're Canadian, then Happy Belated Thanksgiving! If nothing else applies, then Happy Fourth Thursday in November!

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday about family, food, and gratitude. What a great tradition!

For family, this year Demeter and I are visiting Persephone at college. We're staying in an Airbnb and we'll be cooking in an unfamiliar kitchen. It's an adventure! I am grateful to be spending time with my extraordinary bonus family, and grateful that I will be spending Christmas with the twins, who get to spend this holiday with their mother's side of the family and their many beloved cousins.

For food, we have a turkey, with green beans, mashed potatoes, and corn. And we've already made the cornbread for my cornbread stuffing.

I love that Thanksgiving is explicitly about gratitude. (It's right there in the name.) The practice of gratitude can be a secular spiritual practice that has both immediate and long-term benefits.

Our environment is, first and foremost, our thoughts. That means that by practicing gratitude, we alter our primary environment for the better.

Thus, joy comes from gratitude.

Here's wishing you every joy today and far into the future!
