This is a space for forgotten horror, hidden gems, and the games nobody seems to talk about anymore. My goal isn’t just to explain what these games are, but to preserve them, to remind you of the moments they gave us.
Maybe you remember sitting on the floor at your grandma’s house, lost in a game you swore only you knew. Or maybe it was that weekend when you were 8, renting a game with a friend and playing it all weekend. Those memories are the soul of this channel.
That’s why my videos are narrated the way they are. No flashy editing or fake persona. Just me, like I’m sitting on the couch with you telling the story of a game
I’ve been deep into game history for years, I plan to cover everything I can, from cult classics to the weird titles you only stumble across in forgotten corners of the internet. My hope is that one day, when you see some strange old game pop up on Reddit, you’ll think:
“I bet Jake’s covered that.”

Happy NEW YEAR everyone!
I think 2025 was a fantastic first year for the channel. I feel ive really locked in the direction and the voice for the channel and layed a foundation to build upon in 2026.
For everyone thats supported me I am truly thankful. you all are the big reason I keep pushing as hard as I do on this channel. All of the encouragement and nice comments really keeps a fire lit under me.
What direction would you like to see the channel go in for 2026? dipping into more retro like snes or maybe look at some indie or more modern games?
Horror and action has been the majority of what ive touched on so far, is there any other genres youd like to see? I enjoy every genre so I am confident I can give just about anything the same level of care as I do the current content.

story time
I always wanted to be a content creator. It may sound depressing but i was never the most popular person in school and would get picked on alot. even in some of my friend groups i was usually the one joked with. Anyways, id come home and watch channels like Robbaz, gamegrumps, old markiplier and pewdiepie. It sounds weird but it made me feel connected to something, being part of a community.
THATS what i wanted to build, I wanted to have a community where people felt like they belonged to something. Thats why im so active with everyone, making polls, doing the discord, doing the streams because i want the save room to feel like a place everyone is welcome.
I created this channel over 10 years ago under a different name. I was 19 and in college. Like everyone else I wanted to make a lets play channel. so I did that, i ended up making daily lets play episodes for about a year. theres a little over 300 lets play episodes unlisted on the channel. It grew to about 100 subs then I had to stop for family issues.
I came back last year around 12/10/24, again with lets plays. I seen pretty fast I wasnt going to really get what I was wanting if I didnt change what I was doing.
I had seen an ad for The Thing Remaster on facebook and had the idea. hmm i wonder how videos would do on breaking a game down to see how they aged.
The punisher is that first idea. How did it age? Like Beef or like milk. It was goofy but it was a start. Throughout the year testing structure and refining everything playing with thumbnail designs. I finally landed on what everyone knows now. "WHAT WAS"
Rule of rose was the first video i tried this design with and it did a little better than all the other designs i had tried. so I stuck with it.
After about 6 videos i felt like i needed to change the channels identity because the name was goofy and was an old gamer tag. I wanted people to take the channel seriously so i changed it. Originally it was going to be jakes game vault but there was already a channel with that name so I didnt want it. I landed on Jakes save room. The idea was when you click a video you enter the save room then when you click into the main page you enter the game vault. I was really building lore for it early on. if you look at early descriptions in videos theres file numbers on the videos " Horror shelf file 3 - survival horror"
Most of the year was slow, it took 8 months to reach 1k subs, then on month 9 things started changing, that was the first resident evil video. There was no real reason i covered that when i did but i just felt like it was time to work through the whole series, i like resident evil alot so why not.
I uploaded RE1 and it started slow like everything i had done at that point, then one day I woke up while being super sick, checked the channel like I always do and seen it was going crazy. since then its just gotten faster. the channel started getting like 50-150 subs a day and really hasnt stopped.
In october i had the idea to do jakes 31 days of horror where i streamed a random horror game every day then made a mega "what was" video out of it for 31 games.
up to that point i had been getting really nice comments and there were people that were really into what i was doing but this month of streaming is really where i started to see the community form.
now at the 1 year mark the channel is 9112 subs, almost 700k views, and people making me part of their daily routine. ive seen so many people say they throw the videos on when they work,drive,clean, even sleep.
You all have been so kind to me, I had hopes but i really never imagined this channel to turn into what it has. I especially never expected the amount of love ive been getting.
From the bottom of my heart thank you for all the support this year, im beyond happy that so many of you are into what im making here. If this is what we can do in the channels very first year I think its going to turn into something big. Thank you all for being part of this and really making a dream come true.

Yall blew me away with the super chats, I really was not expecting that many, it was a record for the channel for sure.
I appreciate you all, the channel is 1 day away from the 1 year mark so be on the lookout for a post about that lol. Im speechless for where this channel has gotten in 1 year.

Hey everyone!
It was brought up to me that I should make one and after thinking about it for a bit I created a Patreon page for the channel. For anyone wanting to support the channel beyond watching the videos
As of now I only have 1 tier where supporters will be listed in the credits of the videos but i am working on some ideas for additional tiers with some extra content.
Maybe some old lets plays i used to do or the raw footage of the games i record for the videos. I plan on expanding it.
I dont have an expectation for anyone to do patreon but if you do want to take that extra step of support I plan to loop that income back into the channel to go towards the items I have on the Throne wishlist.

A bit late with this one, I usually try to get these up prior to the video going up but like i said last night, been a bit sick.
Outbreak had some really cool promo stuff, some through pre ordering at gamestop.
